Wanted a cool brat seat, but no frame mods on my 77 CB750. This is what I fabed up. Now off to the upholsterer.

(using tab in front under tank rubber and two tabs in back where fender attached to secure.)

Probably a cateye with a small black fairing to blend the light and the original fender side mounts. Anybody can cut a frame and stick a hoop on. The challenge was to have a clean look with no frame mods. These sohc bikes are getting harder to find so preserving the frame was important.

That looks real good. I am interested in some of the finishing pictures when you get the rear end together more.

Using regular Joann's Fabric foam? Looking good!

I know somebody who used carpet padding in layers on a rebuilt seat - it was for Jawa from sixties.

it is replacing where the inner fender goes. Did you check for clearance? if not, you might want to unless a tire hitting you in the ass at full compression is your idea of fun.

it's sort of above that. where the seat mounts in the rear is the topside of the mount, the inner fender uses the bottom side. Chances are it will probably clear, but too many people build these seats without ever checking for impact through all suspension travel so I thought I would bring it up.

.060 2024-T3, going to have rigid struts so suspension travel will be nil, and finally, about $125. to get it skinned, Thanks guys. :-)

Yeah, I'm interested to see how this finishes as well. I've been looking for a way to get a smaller seat on my bike while keeping the stock rear fender. This might just do it.

Hey Rigid,

I've been racking my brain to figure out something like this seat mod, I like it!
I'm in the same mind set about not chopping the frame, can you please post some more pics of the seat, what you do with the pan, hinges and latch etc!
