Love the tank. Where did you get the stickers from? I was looking for the exact same thing but couldn't find them.

You can get them on ebay, but I have a buddy that makes them.  I used them as a stencil so that the wing color was the same as the rest of the grey.

if you don't mind them black w/ a gold 'Hm' circle at the bottom they're available from Honda pt.#'s 87121-GCR-300ZA for the right and # 87122-GCR-300ZA for the left oem. I got a pr. for my tank but haven't installed them just yet. I want to 'clear them in' to my tank. The oem stickers are great quality when it comes to gas spills, etc.

I couldn't stand to sit around the house any more so I braved the cold in my garage and put everything together.  There are a few tweaks and peaks I need to do, but for the most part she is together.  With the LED headlight I put in I couldn't get the wires into the bucket so I need to figure out a solution for that.  Right now they are outside of the bucket tucked.  There is also a slight gap where the top cover meets the top triple which allows the bottom cover to rotate a bit.

Never mind the license plate.  It is off of my CB750.  I was using it for mock up purposes.

Wow I like the paint job, looks great.
Is the paint blue or gray, the photos of the bike looks light blue and the tank by itself looks gray, cameras sometimes play tricks depending on the light, either way I like it.
thanks, Mark

Took it out for the maiden ride today.  She rode pretty damn good.  Need to do some more tweaking to the carbs, but I kind of expected that.  The brakes are great.  Really good initial bite.  Even the rear brake works well.  It was a little weird feeling with the flattish rear tire vice the rounded sport tire I am used to, but nothing crazy.  Pretty good acceleration, but 1st gear is really short.  I had it up to 70mph and it was still pulling strong.  You have to be nice and smooth with the throttle, but I don't expect the wife to be burying it coming out of a turn so that is good.  It handled great.  Nice and easy to throw around.  It actually kind of surprised me how easy it was.

Other than some adjustments to the carbs, control positioning, and shifter positioning  I think she might be done.

Harsh, did you install new trim or reuse the old trim brightwork on your seat?
Was it repro or mother Honda if new?
I am surprised no one has done repro tank trim for the 550 bikes.
The seat trim as a polished aluminum or stainless would be a nice add on for the 550 parts.
How does the 350 seat trim work/attach?

Has your wife enjoyed her bike since you built it?  Hopefully she did not have the typical drop or minor wreck in her first year of riding as many new riders will.

I re-used the original trim.  The trim has pins that push through the seat pan that are attached with speed nuts and then pins are folded over.

Unfortunately, she has barely been on it.  We started working getting her used to the controls (throttle, clutch, brake).  She was having issues with the death grip so we were taking it slow and easy.  Then I had my wreck at the race track (oh what a joyous time that was) and she hasn't touched the bike since.  I am hoping that once I get my daughters bike finished and start down the process of teaching her that I can get the wife to join back in.

Harsh, maybe you can pull the daughter aside and talk to her about your wife's reluctance.  See if she can talk your wife into riding with her or joining you three.  Will she ride double with you?

The wreck certainly will make one recognize how much  a spill can do.  A pair of Joe Rocket Mesh (Ion I think isthe name) pants can give you some CE rated hip and knee protection as well as road rash protection and can be worn over street clothes or even shorts.  Road trash is really nasty to heal from.
I had a bicycle wreck when I was around 10 where I went over the handlebars and road rashed my arm, stomach ( no shirt) , knees, heels of palms, etc on asphalt.  So, I know how even a short slide does to flesh.  So, while not great gear, it is good gear for the money.
I would recommend that to help her mindbe put at easefor scars ifs she does take a tumble.
Get her a top case and a rack that won't look awful with the bike and she can lock the gear  up when off the bike. If large enough it can fit boots and pants and jacket and a seat lock helmet lock can be fitted to the rack and case mount to lock the helmet up as well.  If the helmet/seat lock were deleted with her bike's build. A locksmith can rekey it to the ignition if she doesn't want multiple keys if she starts using it.

Just some thoughts on things which might make her hesistant to use or learn to ride.  A scooter like a Honda C70 or a Sym Symba (used) is a great scooter that is not too expensive and very friendly with their auto clutch.  The Sym products are very good as they made motor parts and other components for Honda's bikes for 15-20 years before building their own bikes and motors.  So, they have a good history of building parts that last and are good quality. The Symba came out before Honda came out with their Super Cub design to celebrate the anniversary, so it is very much like the Cub 50 cc model but it has a 90cc motor capable of doing 55-60 and it has the improved brakes to handle stopping very well.

You are likely to get out of it what you paid if well kept and you find a decent price on one.

She then can overcome the fear that might be there with the death grip.  The C70 is easy to work on but often have neutral switch issues requiring kick starting.  It can be easily kick started with one or two kickstarts and you can even start them with your arm/hand being a low compression bike.  The Michelle Gazzelles are great wet dry tires for them too.
