First time dropping in 2.5 years of riding.
I should have been scanning ahead better, but to my defense, it's VERY hard to have seen this debris. I tend to pay more attention to vehicles/bikes/pedestrians rather than staring at the road. After work, I rode right back and it was still there, waiting for another motorcyclist to wreck.
I took this picture at 6:00pm, but I was traveling down the same road at 8:30am. Try to think of it being darker and most everything has a shadow casted. I bet you wouldn't see it either:
As I was traveling (I was going really slow since I was approaching a stoplight), all of a sudden when stopped I felt my bike slide going at NO speed. And over I went. I had no #$%*ing idea what just happened. Took a picture at what caused me to go down (after I kicked the stupid piece of #$%* across the road):
I don't even know what this is. It slides around on the road like it's black ice and it's about 2mm thick, and it's black.
Damage to my bike:
Almost all of the damaged was sustained by Franken's side cover.
Oil tank which was perfect before and it now has a dent in it:
Other than that, the foot peg needs to be replaced. Really, no other damage so I got considerable lucky. No damage to me, or my clothing.
I have $100 comprehensive insurance. I can foresee about $300 in repairs, not including replacing the oil tank (which I may just leave alone). Do you guys comprehensive will cover this or is a joke to call State Farm and ask? That piece of debris is still out there and it will cause ANY bike, to go down.
Would you guys replace the oil tank?
