1974 cb750--Project Vanora
« on: August 16, 2014, 01:52:51 PM »
Hello all bought this cb750 a few days ago and is going to be the next project. This will be my first cb750 build I usually do the cb550 so I will have some pretty stupid question I am sure. The engine in the bike now is bad it came with a spare 73 engine so will be using that. I wont be doing anything crazy light restore a few things painted or polished here and there and lower bars about it.

A few of you have already helped me out with some of the questions I have but will ask again.

-Tank a 75/76 ?
-Front end is a later model ?

Matt

He sure did, looks like Lester's.  Yes, appears that front end is off a later model, K7?
Is the tank color Antares Red? If yes, that s a K6 color.  I wouldn't be concerned about all that, looks to be in pretty good overall cond (except the broken case).

Had some time with Larry today got the engine out and donor one in.

Engine out

Donor engine 1973

Engine back in

Overall wasn't too bad getting it out and in but holy crap these 750 engines are heavy use to the 550's lol.

Plans now are to get the carbs, airbox and everything else hooked up and see if it will run. I am also looking at getting a new harness the wiring is such a mess on this bike.

Good updates Matt.

you need to update the bikes in your signature now  ;D

Everyone thinks Chuck Norris is bad, but Chuck Norris has not meet Lucky either.  Lucky will round house kick Chuck back to 1969 and pop a wheel with the 1st sandcast while shotgunning a PBR!
