Where'd you get the 150 speedo? Both my 77 and my 74 parts bike come with 120.

It'd be hella cool to go out to Bonneville during speed week. That's definitely one place to see what she's got without having Barney Fife on your case.

Jeff

They do normally come with a 120 speedos. I used a 750 speedo (yes I made sure the rpm input was accurate). At first she had the 120 speedo, I liked the boasty 150 better.  ;D

Not trying to rile you there Cheapo but we are not being childish. There are a bunch of people here that read what you post and unless you think we all were just dropped off of the tulip truck,we aren't buying.Somebody posted about machining and drilling rotors for a tad under $100 so you chime in and say you can do it for $20? You would lose your ass in a heartbeat doing them that cheap. I don't think you are doing anything to these rotors anyway except hitting them with a buffing pad on a die grinder. That don't count for machining them. Nobody here is trying to ride you but yourself.NUFF SAID!!!!!!

Are you calling me a liar? No one gets away with that #$%*. When I say I MACHINE - I MACHINE and then CROSS DRILL.

THE PRICE STANDS - anything more would just be LAZY. I can machine and cross drill a rotor in less than 45 minutes. If it takes you longer then the beer should be put away. Anyone here who has turned a rotor knows it takes no more than 10 minutes unless you have no hands or brains.

If you want you can pay 3 times as much if like. Thats still below the other guys.

Maybe the should be $200.

You see how people do not recognize a good deal when it happens.  ::)

Well that's what the speedo said  ;) ;D

But really all bull#$%* aside, I really want to get some hard numbers on how fast - or SLOW she really is. This just can not be done with someone chasing me (aside from a squad car) on the roads around here for very long.

Seems to me I offered (sort of), and you said having an ambulance chasing you would be bad for business...

Yes I did put Wrecker on the dyno. AND NO WE WILL NOT GO DOWN THAT BS SUBJECT HERE AGAIN>

Why would someone say that they have Dyno results and then not post them? Maybe they dont have them?  Why would someone say that their bike can go 155 mph when the majority finds it is very unlikely that it will ? Some people really like to talk and talk. It realy starts to look like BS (not the Burmashave guy) after so many claims have been made.
I've never put my bike on a Dyno and I doubt that I ever will. I know my bike has over 100 HP (at least) but I dont brag about it. You see, the stock 1976 KZ 900 has 82 HP and I put a turbocharger on mine. So the 100hp is a low guess. I've never buried the 160mph speedo and I probably never will. I've had it up to 120mph and it gets there fast (this claim can also be made by most of the people on this board, and still be beleivable).
Maybe it would be better if a claim was made after the proof was obtained, that way it could be backed up with proof after the said claim has been made.

Thanks,guys.
My Kaw is a 1976. My truck and I aren't seeing eye to eye right now. I want to go, but it doesnt (Bad transmission, 130,000 miles - not mph ;D )
Heres another bike of mine that I probably wont get dyno'ed. 1974 Suzuki GT 750. Its a 3 cylinder 2 stroker. It has Mikuni 38mm flatslides, J&R Expansion chambers, hand made Dyna S kit and the rest is stock. Runs reel good and I have had it up to 120 mph and it also gets there fast.  ;D

DG, that is one saweeet job you did with the turbo!  You did a clean job with the pipes, and the dual-tip is a nice touch.

You guys know how, when you're having a conversation with your friends, some dude just kind of stands there, not really in the conversation, but won't leave?  Then they chime in with something that's almost related, but not reallly?

That's me right now.  ;D  Even though this is about PEGGING speedo's I just have to chime in.

First car was a '76 Chevy Caprice Classic.  2 door Landau.  350V8.

<Homer Simpson - Unggghhh Mmmm>

Nothing special or collectiable, but man I loved that car.  Don't even remember what the speedometer went up to.  Probably 100 mph.  This was one of those short and WIDE speedos.  No peg.  Once or twice, "buried" the needle. Went far enough past 100 that the needle disappeared.

Gotta love long, straight, flat country roads.   ;D

So, anyone else ever bury a needle?  Not pegging, but just as much fun.

No, but i did peg my very first car ever, the Bad Lieutenant,  a 1990 (last year of the 79-90 body style) caprice classic, gun metal grey with blue flames that i made with my buddies sign shop computers and vinyl.  My speedo only read 85 (it think) but lord (and much of the NY state police) knows the engine didnt want to stop there.  had to sell it while at university, but i bet it is still running.  what beautiful tanks they where,

Kinda wondering about your speedo............

Ya say you have a 750 Speedo on it?

Are you sure the internal gearing is the same for the 750 vs 550?

Smae thing could be said for the poistion of the numbers on the gauge face itself.

Sitting here in the shop looking at various speddometers......

The 750 F speedo I have indicates 150. The last numbered mark being 140.

Looking at a 350 speedo the last mark is 110. With the last numbered mark being 100.

Now get this.... Handy dandy protractor puts them both at the same Degree angle reference the 0.

So obviously the gearing internal to the speedo or at the wheel is different between the models.

Buring a 750 gauge mounted on a 350 (assuming same gearing internally of the speedo but different at the wheel) would be about 120.

If the same drive gear is used at the wheel then the internal gearing MUST be different.

May account for 155.....just a thought.

TANK is right.  Actually made of steel.  Although I was quite a bit lighter at 16, I remember JUMPING on the roof of the car.  No dents.  I'm afraid to LEAN on some of the new cars that are coming out.  And don't get me started on plastic bumpers...   :-X

Yeah, I know - crumple zones.  Whatever.  I want whoever I HIT to crumple, not my car.    ;)

A buddy of mine had a '72 Caprice Classic two door.  It was giant -- I think the doors were 5-6 feet long.  He once slid into a guard rail in the snow.  He literally took out the guard rail, but his Caprice had just a small, barely noticeable dent.

That (Bad Lieutenant) was the most aggressively offensive movie I ever sat through.  Ever shoot the radio out of your car, KK?  ;)

no shooting out the radio, but plenty of things were shot out of the bad lieutenant...
the bad lieutenant earned its name by being remarkably similar to an unmarked cop car.  enough so that one boring saturday night a friend hung out the window with a mag light as we rolled up on a spot where younger kids drank and we ended up with free beer and and a good laugh as they all ran into the woods.  we couldnt believe they left the beer, and realized what having power felt like.  thus don caprese the bad lieutenant (the one who gave us this strange and wrong power) earned his name, and yes also inspired by one of harvey kietels most impressive moments of cinema.
this was also the vehicle that we used to see how many baby jesi you could fit in the trunk.  turned out to be an 8-jesi trunk with the spare and some other stuff.

the nostalgia of that guard rail story made me cry a little.  holy #$%*, those WERE the best days of my life~!
