Does anyone know who built this bike?
« on: October 16, 2015, 05:07:36 PM »
Hi all,
wondering  if anyone can give me any information on this build. Also, if anyone recognizes what fuel tank that is, please let me know! Thanks,
-Nick

that bike was built by Honda...

...then some hipster came along, hacked it up,and bolted a bunch of low performance parts on.
If it works good, it looks good...

FYI, if you use Chrome as your browser, you can right click on a photograph and choose "Search Google for this image".  I did that and it pulled the answer right up.

The Firestone tires and cheap Emgo shocks are particularly bad choices.

If you look at their builds page, it appears that all of their builds either get those crappy Firestone tires or a set of knobbies.

Knobbies have their place -- on dirt.  Firestones could have their place in a museum or on a car.  They are absolute crap for motorcycles.

The hipsters sure do love them.

Well if you don't reopen the can...eventually the worms will die.  And that's pretty cruel to the worms! At least on the end of the hook, they have the sporting option of whipping that fish and swimming off if they want to!  ;D

And I agree with you that the tank and seat combos look nice.

That wasn't just a "FAIL", that was an EPIC FAIL that gave me shivers down to the hair on my toes.

And the only can (well bottle) of worms I'd be interested in opening is the one with Jose on the label.  :)

But I agree the Tank and Seat combo is pretty nice.

Since it appears to be safe to do a little bashing here... besides the hipster comments... I have 3 pet peeves any one of which will x a project bike off my list. If it doesn't have a front fender, if it doesn't have a functional side stand (too long or too short), and if it doesn't have a chain guard, then it is not finished in my book.   ;)   ;)

I think a nice front fork brace will do the trick no?

The bike really isn't bad at all. Looks like some good work was put into it, but yes I wouldn't go with those tires or shocks myself.

Dat tail. I want. Also, this one's not bad either. -
This one, too -
I'm tearing my hair out trying to find just the right tail section for my new K0 cafe racer project and can't seem to find exactly what I want anywhere. I'm leaning towards something from Legendary but nothing seems to be exactly what I want. Anyone have any recommendations?

How did I know that would be the first reply? Of course your right. It just seems like so much work and I can't even patch a surfboard w/o making a lumpy mess.
So much to do, so little time.

That 350 was built by Devin at CognitoMoto. The seat is custom, through Cliff Meyer. He does excellent work, and you can Google him (hes in Indiana I believe). He does great metal work, so a tank, seat or fender are all available through him.

Recently, a member posted a poor experience with a tank from Legendary, as a heads up....

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
