When I tore down my front caliper, there was a part missing according to this diagram.  Part #17.  Anyone have one they would like to get rid of?  Can the system work properly with out it?  Where would I find one other than buying another complete assembly that is probably missing that very piece?  :)

I bought one off EBay.  It was actually an aftermarket part some guy makes in the US.  I'll see if I can find the link.

Found it...

No problem.  You need that part, btw.  It has a slight convex surface to it.  The best I can tell is that it helps keep the brake pad flush against the rotor, because of how the caliper bracket pivots.  You'll notice that the inside brake pad has a bump built into the backing plate for the same reason.

Just to prove what a cheap bastard I am.  I will share a few pics from this eve.  I bought a used exhaust.  Had been pretty beat.  Laid down. On side.  Megaphone damaged at end.  Collector mashed from what looked like poor trailer loading considerations.   So I studded the collector and pulled most damage out.   Then down the time making a skid/ protector that will get painted silver with rest of exhaust being ho temp black.  Blasting it all first.   Not that I am really cheap, I am really creative at over coming my lack of funds.

Me too.  Love that bike.  I have had FXR, DYNA, SOFTail...sportys.  The VIC is right up there if not superior. I still have some work to do to her, finish paint work mostly, re cut seat, but I ride it all the time and do not want to put it down for a while until the 750 is roadworthy.

That skid plate looks as though it might get caught up on a speed bump...

+1...Ihad a 4 into 1 Kerker that would scrape when going over speed bumps.

Thanks for the concern fellas.  It's actually sittng flush on the areas that has received the damage in the past and angled as such that the distance isn't diminished.  But am going to mock it up one more time after I fit the retaining springs that will hold muffler section on.  I may change the front section and angle it back so it is not so vertical.

Rolled it outside for the first time.   Little brisk today, but sunny.   Laying out wiring on paper and placing relays.   Getting closer.  6 inches clearance on exhaust.  Will see how long it lasts.
