I have two different ideas for seat.  My use high density foam with adhesive and do a racing style seat.  Another idea is a hand tooled laced seat.  Not sure yet.  We will see what funds allow me to do.   Friend of mine wants to buy it.

I think the style would lend itself perfectly to a leather covered pad. The "tooled" leather might become too busy with the heavy striping. (You were warned previously about opinions from this forum...)  :-[

Trust me my friend, the first thing you learn as an artist is...that everyone is a critic.   :)  I am leaning toward the cheaper of the option and getting the high density foam and cutting out a pattern that will keep the air flowing in the right places and still keep the buttocks happy.

I have a dense foam "racing" seat on my bike. It sucks. My balls and back are abused if I don't stand up a little for speed bumps and large bumps. At freeway speeds, the constant small vibrations get a little tiring on the  boys.

Initially, I thought it was really bold of you to publicly talk about your balls being black and bruised after a ride. Then I realized I wasn't wearing my glasses. I hate that I gotta wear them all the time. Getting old sucks. Carry on everyone.  ;D

Does anyone have a technique to remove the snap ring on the front master cylinder other than ordering the proper too?  Cheap bastard question.

Palepainter's 750f project..assembly time
« Reply #384 on: March 05, 2017, 03:26:28 PM »
This afternoon, I fabricated a support plate for the electronics.  Switching over to modern fuses.   Then I really started to take a good look at the harness and wondering if it is even worth saving at all because of the lack of the junction box that the stock bike ran.  It's happy location use to be under lower triple tree.  I have plenty coming off controls now.  But the whole jbox situation leaves the wiring up front a bit messy.  I think I will take the harness sheath off and see what I can work with and do not need anymore.   Not running neutral safety switch.  No speedo or speedo light.  No rear signals, just bar ends.

I am thinking that I can run power up front into headlight and mount relays in there.  Saving a bunch of wires from having to run front and back.

Wiring still.  Hope to take a good chunk out of it this weekend, one system at a time.  Ignition system finished.  Lights almost done.   Started from scratch.  Opened up the old harness to to see what I could scavenge.

I want to hang myself right now.   Going to scrap all stock switches and controls.   Next time I will be finding someone who likes to wire and needs their bike painted.

That's funny! As I've been following your build it was kind of obvious that you would not be happy with the stock harness and controls.  You'll be a lot happier with the new setup.  Keep at it!!

Don't blame you one bit.  That's what I did.  I didn't attempt to use the stock stuff.  I knew it wasn't going to work for me.

The left side is fine.  I figured out the hot leads to the headlight and signals.  I will bypass all the idiot control stuff on the right and just get a throttle.  I may use the horn button as a momentary kill.  I can always steal one of my two stroke kill switches and add that in the loop.  What a freaking joke.  Nothing on the right even functions.  I purchased two units in the process of thinking...Ya, one of them will work.  HA.

Oh...I got hung up for the longest time on the electric starter, till I realized that the solenoid is probably shot as well.  Took it apart and got it working.    Did I mention I hate electrical yet.  HAHAHA  Where the hell is the beerski.

Ya Bud.  I should have known going into this that using the stock controls was a pipe dream.  I am going out tomorrow and getting a momentary for the starter.  One thing that confuses me is that as I have this hooked up, the two coils are powered by one positive lead into the pair.  But one of them seems to get warm if leaving power on for a while.  I turned it over a few cranks thinking contact was open on that coil, but am not so sure what is going on.

I believe the right side is off a 75K w/ headlight on and off.  I already ordered the throttle unit from 2Fast.

Just don't install it yet. Even with it, you'll still need to sort out the wiring a bit to use momentary switches. Happy to help you get it sorted if you want to tinker with it.  :-\

Thanks Cal.  Appreciate the offer.  Every schematic I have found for the 75k control, the wiring is completely different coded.  Headed to find momentary for starter switch and small flasher I can mount in headlight.

I think saving the right controls is fruitless as the rotary kill switch is not getting any continuity as well an intermittent starter button.  The light on off switch seems to be functioning properly.
