Cafe Sadness
« on: March 10, 2017, 12:38:53 PM »
Now don't get me wrong I like cafe/brat style bikes, but sometimes I can't understand why people do what they do. In this ad which is local to me can someone take a guess where the electrical panel has gone?

it looks to be under the side cover where it normally is. Unless I misunderstood you?

It looks like someone's hacked up wiring. My electrical panel looks different as it has connectors, rectifier and fuse block.

Looks like he switched to a modern blade fuse and deleted the starter.  Probably pretty easy to put back to stock wiring, if needed.

That bike looks like a hot mess.  The wiring is hacked and butt-connected, the paint looks like poop, it's got jenky pipe-wrap and it's leaking gas (at least in those two photos).  Those are the "beauty" shots to sell it??

(nothing really wrong with Shinko tires - they're better than anything we could get in the 70s - but still a bargain brand)

Strange that the bike increase in price after removal of a lot of original parts that cost a lot to buy if found.

Honestly Wilde had better taste than that. He's a lot of things, but riding straight junk wasn't one of them.

He probably doesn't have the cajones to ride any of his bikes (including the mythical 85 mph in 2nd gear CB) all the way to your neck of the woods in Buffalo.

Not really. The purple chop looks like a 70's job with extended fork tubes, handlebars, and seat being all bolted on items that can be swapped easily back to something more stock looking.

I agree.  Just thought I'd slap it up here for viewing enjoyment and to laugh at the ideas people come up with.... Especially the asking price of some of these.

That purple chopper looks sweet to me, imo the blue cafe sadness is truly a dog turd!

The shinko seems to be a gratis item to replace the boxxed out rear tire

Look at the wear, likely caused by the tool doing burnouts as it is  all in the middle. Now it is characteristic of a bike to wear the middle of the tread when only doing city or freeway riding, but this is excessive.  Thus my conclusionof a tool doing a burnout.  Saw a guy visit my nextdoor neighbor while I lived in Sierra Vista  with a nice late model Nighthawk in 250cc size. Probably an ex-MC riders course bike.  So, what does he do facing  the alleyway beside my  car parked at the end of the building.  In a gravel drive he does a burn-out" throwing rock and stirring up lots of dust and sand. Stupid move by some newbies until they replace the tires a few times or dumps it sideways and get hurt by it.  Even then, sometimes they never learn...continuing to attempt to recieve the Darwin Award or hopefully just thin that gene pool  from which they were spawned.

If it is a can and bottle collection he has not been returning his collection for refund on the same items.  It is suppose to be a means of keeping bottles and cans littering in NY State.
While unsightly it is possible more responsible than tossing them in the trash.

I dig the purple bike too. That's frozen in time... in the 70s.

Wilde is alive! Riding a nice looking grey 750. Clothes still look horrible though!

He probably doesn't have the cajones to ride any of his bikes (including the mythical 85 mph in 2nd gear CB) all the way to your neck of the woods in Buffalo.

FYI - I just saw a tv advertisement for Upstate NY on MSNBC last night -- promoting it as a techy haven where everyone knows your name!

Techy???!! #fakenews lol. Buffalo has plenty of Jwildes though.   ;D

Better than:  Upstate NY - where dreams go to freeze!

Some of these places look like good scenery for a ride:  https://www.thrillist.com/travel/new-york/small-towns-in-upstate-new-york-that-are-worth-a-visit
