 I think the taillight covers a weld too. The PO made a fender like it on the drag bike but didn't take the time to weld, it was flopping by the time I got it. Rivets could work too.

  Old blue has been in storage, as there always seems to be a 750K0, Dragster or Street Rod ahead of it in line. It's in my race trailer right now in a building across town. It's going to collect the hot rod parts as I return other 750's to original.

 This one still has a plan, it's a k1/2 hybrid. I built a K1 and promptly sold it to David Silver, I regret that so I'll copy it.
  2013 Honda Accord tiger eye pearl brown with K2 gold/pearl white/black stripes. I have k2 chrome headlight ears with K0 reflector threads, I may paint a set of K0's for it though, it has a DSS repro seat already and hooker 4-2 headers.

 I'm saving the brown tank off of my K0 for this bike. As mentioned it will get painted Accord tiger eye pearl brown with gold/white/black K2 stripes, I may use some new K0 sidecovers on it, since it's a resto mod it may as well be a total confuser. I have chrome headlight ears welded and tapped for small reflectors, another deception.
  I've already laced up a set of 750 A rims, ready for tires, with the engine performance mods I'm leaning towards using the A front forks with double discs, I'll just need another center outlet caliper. I have a yoshi looking header but it has a way too long muffler, works and sounds awesome looks wrong, I believe it came off of a dohc bike.
  This engine has a big bore kit of unknown size. The engine guy remembered building it but said around that time they were short on 836 kits he couldn't say for sure what it had in it. The PO claimed 836 but I know how that goes. Honda Euro bars for sure.

 More accidental progress, I was straightening out the shop and found the new set of 400f handlebars I bought a while back, Will work instead of the euro bars. Now to order up a set of short cables for it. Today I'll look for the long rotor bolts for the double disc. Since it's a 72 and not going to be a restored bike at all I think I'll use the 76A forks I got last year, I like the center inlet calipers and have the one already.

   I found a k2/k3 front end in my brothers storage unit today with a center bleeder caliper on it. It has separate turn signal holes and a beeper, 73? After making it into parts I now have a 76A fork and two sets of late center bleeder brakes for it.  I also have a K0 speedo drive and 5/16" bolts for the rotors. There is what I want for my late fork dual disc setup for the performance build. It has tall lowers so an F1 fork brace will work.
  I keep hearing about K2's with K1 engines so maybe this one isn't as part swapped as I originally thought. My wife thinks it's bad luck since the PO and engine builder are both deceased. I happen to think Karma will appreciate what I'm doing.

Yeah, don't worry about the "Deceased" thing Don, it's only when someone's killed on your bike (like the PO of my 2006 VTR1000F) that you need to worry, the old guy who built that bike is probably happy that you're getting it running again.

 It was odd when I was putting my old dragbike back together every part it needed seemed to be within reach or in the top of the tote. It seemed like Karma was on my side until I borrowed the 400F handlebars for another project. It hasn't co-operated since then. lol.
 I'll see if the spirits approve when I take the drag bars off and put 400F's back on.

  Since this frame is not numbered and is a mish mash of K1/K2 stuff it might be a perfect victim of my parts collection. It has a nice hooker 4-2 already and an unknown big bore kit. We presume (PO said) it's an 836, the engine guy remembered doing it but didn't remember the kit for sure. So maybe I'll hang the Webers and an ARD on it, or at least the carbs and an old stock Dyna electronic ignition.

  I ordered a VIN tag from the ebay guy Switzerland. Around $40 he stamps the reverse numbers in it for you. He also had the proper build month/year printed already. He sent links to videos showing how to bend the plate to fit the neck tube and rivet the tag on. I'll need the proper drill bit also.
  I borrowed a set of number/letter stamps and will apply the title numbers to the neck as should have been done when the replacement frame was assembled. Too bad there isn't a Honda font number stamp set like there are for Harleys.

 The data plate, follow along for installation also frame neck number stamping.  I didn't see the drill and rivets until later, the plaque came with 3 rivets.

 I may buy a plate for the K1 drag bike too, people removed them when getting show paint.  It's been raked 10* over but the stamped numbers are intact.

 Chopper forks, they are early type, have light freckling above the seals and on one side of both tubes. Rider quality probably not show quality.  Gurp asked about them, if a 750 chopper guy lived close enough to show up here, I'd make up a care package of chopper stuff.

  I do not, no Honda tech has ever told me they had factory number/letter stamps. I'm planning to use magnets or metal angle as a guide and stamp one letter at a time.

The factory had a jig that held the stamps in place.

The factory also had a distinct font for the serial number.  The reproduction VIN plates look good and are close but are not the same font.

Interesting. I know that parts frames were made, but I'm not sure if they were stamped.  I know that some of the early engine cases that were replaced by dealers had no numbers on them.

I don't know anyone who worked in a Honda dealer back then,and HondaMan may be too busy to answer.

How did they deal with the DMV if the new replacement frame didn't have a VIN number stamped into it ?
