2 things to consider in central Kentucky. The Corvette factory and the Corvette museum right on I-65. However the factory is closed to the public due to top secret projects ie the C7 Corvette ZR1 and the new mid-engine whatever it's going to be called. The museum is across the street and will be open. The second thing I'd recommend for you to look into is the 'Bourbon Trail'. If you have time you can visit some/all of the distilleries and sample their products. Makers Mark will even sell you some Makers White. It's the only place you can get it. Straight off the still (but cut to 90 proof) before they fill the barrels to age it. DAMN GOOD taxed MOONSHINE. Now that I think about it you are close to Mammoth Cave National Park. It's a great adventure in the cool underground on a hot humid day.

You'll find that some of Terry's stereotypical rednecks are for real.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Yes, Kentucky is the home of some great bourbon.  Much better drinking than white lightning, and less risk of going blind drinking it.
not necessarily...I know an old ex-con Harley mechanic that makes some shine that is awwwreeeaall good

He probably puts a little assembly lube, Loctite or RVT in the mix! ;)

I didn't mean to knock moonshine.  It's all a matter of personal preference.

Shine is now being legally made in safe ways by licenced distillers.  There is a new one near me and 2 or three in the Gatlinburg (Smokie Mountain National Park)...some legislation passed a few years ago in TN that allowed moonshine makers to do it legit and legal, just subject to the same federal regulations used in other alcohol distilleries.  So, it is not the coils of copper and big pots made out of copper to cook the mash and distill the liqueur.

Many of them make some blended flavor shine like a salted caramel flavored shine that is very tasty.

Yes, Kentucky is known for their very fine bourbon, not called whiskey as much  but they make plenty of both...

Believe it or not, I can buy US sourced Moonshine here, legally. I've tried it a couple of times, but I wouldn't trade it for decent whiskey, or paint stripper, or degreaser, or dogsh1t remover........ ;D

You mean this is not a bar and heckling thread?
Someone is going to have to turn in their man card.

Per, move to southern AZ or central to southern NM or California and you can ride year round like you wish.  With enough irrigation you can grow plenty of nice grass, people prove in in Phoenix...they pay for it with their inversion bubble giving them un-natural levels of humidity in summer...
I prefer Tucson and their take on landscaping wher a backyard might have nice soft grass but the front and side yards are often desert landscaping which can be beautiful as well.

There are places in the East that are pleasant and green year round, as long as you can deal with heat and humidity.  I prefer just the heat without the humidity.

Yep, if'n I was a real redneck, I'd be a weed plantation owner and I'd have me a heap of low paid workers (probably Mexicans, or Democrats) picking the cop, working in the heat of summer and singing songs like "Old Man River" and "I get no kick from champagne", all the live long day.........

But sadly I'm just a poor old Aussie with even poorer personal hygene, so this afternoon after work I dropped in to my local big box Hardware store and bought a new wire wheel for my bench grinder, and a nylon abrasive wheel for my drill, and a pretty cool folding welding bench that I haven't pulled out of the car yet.

I didn't have a lot of daylight, but I was impressed with how quickly I was able to remove most of the 45 years of crud and corrosion. I was tossing up whether I should machine off the "fins" between the spoke flanges, but as it was I don't have enough "swing" on my filthy lathe, and in hindsight, I think I prefer my hubs original anyway.

I still have a bit more work to do before I can start lacing it up, (I need a thin wire wheel to clean between the "fins") but all in all, I'm still moving forward. Cheers, Terry Bob. ;D

I am with you Mate. My son spent some time in rural NY doing his police training. One fellow was making his family recipe moonshine. I scored a jar. It sucked big time. I was having a party so I went to the Russian section of Brooklyn and bought some cheap, and I mean really cheap Vodka.  I bought a couple for mason jars. Cut some apples up and threw them in the jars with a cinnamon stick. I declared it genuine "apple pie" from the Appalachians and everyone declared it good. I sat back and sipped some Makers Mark enjoying the show. Some of my friends are trendy NY people. I am sure they told all their friends at work about their redneck drinking exploit.

I though about cooking up some chicken in some gravy and telling them it was squirrel since everything disgusting is supposed to taste like chicken. I must say Alligator is pretty good.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

In cub scouts one of the kids needed to call for a ride home after a pack meeting at my house.  He tells his parent on the phone he is in Pine Hill subdivision at a house with a roof on it...

We lived walking distance from the elementary and middle school and the pack members walked home with us.

I was dishonourably discharged from the cub scouts. I'd like to say that I'm not proud of my violent past, and I know that violence doesn't achieve anything, but it did break up the cliquey nature of the upper echelon of my Cub Scout troop, when I beat the sh1t out of the self appointed "leader".

Unfortunately circumstances conspired against me and the adult supervisor only saw me rearranging his face, so I was sent home in disgrace. (Not the first or last time I was sent home in disgrace, so I knew the drill) I didn't mind at all, I didn't want to be a scout, it was my parents who thought it'd be a good thing.

Still, I think these small stepping stones in my early history set me up well for my 40 year military career, where a certain penchant for violence is not necessarily seen as a negative....... ;D

When does a cub scout become a boy scout?

What is the Boy Scout age range?
Youth can join a Boy Scout troop who have earned the Arrow of Light  rank and are at least 10 years old, or have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old.

Oh, you were joking.   Never mind. ;D

Boy Scout? Almost same for me in the military duty I did for a year, mostly on a radar base in a forrest. The captain was really mad when he sent me to the air force office that used the radar base, secret before I and other promiscuous friend arrived.
I used my CB750 on the watch rounds. Too boring walk around with a trained German Sheppard and a machine gun, people could have been hurt. I did the rounds very quick as that a-holed captain noticed on the clock.

He did not know the much worse things we did during the weekends drinking and partying with the local willing chicks!  Then doing the guarding drunk driving the military cars within the facility no cops were welcomed. We watched the gate and our beloved dogs could look really nasty for some candy as reward.

Aha! Now I know where all this new bike cash is coming from, Jerry Joe Escobar! ;D

No retail for me bro! Just beginning to play. The pothos (legit house plant) needs a boost along with the violet. My spider plants will love it too. Maybe even the fig tree/ficus! Besides, it's easier and fun to just go shopping with all the variety available. #2 shipped today  ;D

No worries Jerry, but if I come to visit and you're living in a Southern Plantation Mansion, wearing a white suit and smoking on a big ceegar, I might have to re-assess....... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)
