Super interesting! Are they lighter compared to stock rods?

Since this question remains unanswered, one might conclude that either the weight is unknown or it is not a good selling point.

You in for the second set KMB?

The Crowers were not light, more than stock BUT a much better rod. The Carillos were each about an ounce less than stock if I remember correctly. I guess there's just one way to find out, huh?! It gets down to grams for dollars.

Not exactly apples and apples since this info came from a guy I know working with some 1100 parts, but the Carrillo is 41.5 grams or just under 1.5 ounces lighter than stock, the Crower Ti is 99 grams or just under 3.5 ounces lighter than stock, and the Crower Ti is 57.5 grams or just over 2 ounces lighter than the Carrillo.  ;)  8)

The newer version Carrillo may be even a little bit lighter.  ???

That's an earlier version of the Carrillo in the pic. Newer style have a taper near the small end and weigh 314 grams. ;)

You can't beat the Titanium Rod though.
It just flat out-performs all others.

The real thing that makes it such a winner is it's  very low reciprocating number.

I think Mike is quoting weight for 750 rods. The rod weights in the picture are for 1100 rods that are a bit longer.

It ALWAYS takes "cubic dollars" to make "big power"!  ;)
Yep, the Ti rods are OVER $600.00 EACH!  :o
Kinda get what you pay for!

4 sets of Jay's rods versus 1 set of Ti's, PRICEWISE.  ;D

It certainly makes for a much smoother running engine when the crank and pistons are balanced. Realized this with a set of Jet Ti rods.

I emailed Jay, they are not going to make anymore wrist pins for our bikes, said there was no demand.   My new pistons from MTC came with teflon buttons, maybe they have some extras?     Maybe we could con Jay into a run if we had enough people wanting some wrist pins.  I have new ones from MTC but I would like the piece of mind of having  APE wrist pins.  He turned a set of aluminum buttons for my 970 motor to go with their pins,  the buttons fit tight in the pins so no hassle of keeping the buttons from falling out while assembly.

Thank man. I'll check with them tomorrow. We've seen what happens when a wrist pin fails.

Those non tapered tool steel APE wrist pins are very, very heavy just where you don't want the weight. The wrist pins in JE or Wiseco are OK 99% of the time especially in these low power engines.

The question you need to ask is "how many sets do we need to order for you to make a run" and round up enough buyers.

When we do the pins, we have to run a bunch of different sizes. Can't do just 15mm. Our biggest movers now are the Top Fuel Harleys. And each one only takes two.

I doubt that would be worth the money, unless you were planning on going over 70hp.  The rods are plenty stout for the 550 power levels.  I talked with an old guy that used to race a 550 at the drags, believe it or not, and he was running the stockers on a turbo setup.  IIRC he said he'd had them peened, but that was it.
Just call me Timmaaaaay!!!
