One rear wheel pad slap in the driveway with hand tools, since it was only ten degrees out, and the other wheels are quiet, then broke a stud off at the end of the project.
Checked the power steering pump for fluid, found plenty with lots of bubbles. Asked my son, who drives the car ('02 v-6 Alero) how long has it been making these (associated) noises? "What noises." Oh yeah, you can't hear them cuz you ride with the stereo cranked all the time! "Do you want to fix these problems, or just drive it into the ground?" There was a long pause, and a sort of grunted answer in the affirmative for future repairs.
Not gonna bother with the pissed off thread, it's par for the course!
