Yesterday I took the sandy out for a few miles, I had the carbs drained over winter and I recently changed out the full tank of fuel but it still has a little burble out of the left side. When looking straight ahead I can swear I hear a noise so next chance I'll check the lash and timing. The diecast is eating spark plugs, has a relatively large cam, I'm going to do a test run with the O2 sensor hooked up. The last time it located a too high #1 float valve. Time for a set of Denso's just as a test.

This evening. Changed out the steering bearings earlier in the week. Went out for a 30 mile shakedown ride into the hill county. Need to tighten up the tension a little more. Hard to judge if you’ve got it right before you put everything back together.

Yup, they always seat in a little and need readjustment. Check again in a few hundred miles then at your next oil change and you should be good after that.

Ok, here's a topic I don't think I've seen:

When did you last ride your SOHC?!

I'll start, I last rode my K4 "Big Bang" bike on Thurs, July 2nd. Was a short ride after work, only about 35 miles but a good one.

I try to ride one on my bikes at least once a week.  Last Friday I rode my H1 500, it's a smoker upon start up but a screamer after that!

Stev-o,you still have your 1973' RD350 smoker ??

Yes, but it's currently out of service waiting on a new clutch.  May get to it in the Fall when it cools off.

BTW - Rode the K4 last Friday....

Well , I was hoping to get the okay from the Doc to ride this past July, didn't get it, got 3 more months tacked on to the sentence. That means mid October is riding time. Have 3 bikes on trickle charge, have 91 octane non ethanol in the tanks , and saw a new insurance broker today , shouldn't have let that multi bike policy slide, progressive no longer offers that policy.... Dmv is still  a non visit / mail and wait set up that's making other folks crazy, I don't have to worry about going crazy ...already there.  Can't wait to ride.

No ride 5ince August of 20199. Sorry, I'm still a liittle shaky from not riding All this time. had put in fresh 91 non alch in all 3 tanks and charged up the batteries last month or so ago, just in case I got the medical okay to ride. Didn''t. So didn't renew insurance or plates yet but did find an insurance company that would cover my old machines, most of the rest of the collection and cover the parts inventory at a reasonable price, that made me very happy , but I haven't closed the deal with them yet. That said, today was a beautiful 70 degree day, a perfect time to take my usual 3 out for a run and get some Stabil flowing through them for their long winter's nap. Now being that they weren't legally on the road right yet, going for a real ride in a heavily policed area ( State troopers train here) I felt forced to do the 3 connecting parking lots ride with all three. Now I don't know if this activity actually constitutes a ride    ( need to check the handbook)  especially since I never got above 3rd gear  but I did get in some figure 8's , a couple of circles and a few gravel spewing burnouts to get the heart rate back in rhythm. Okay the handbook doesn't actually spell it out ,but I'm thinking a few laps with 3 bikes could be viewed as a ride  especially when one considers if I got caught a half block away that I would be ticketed for no reg, or insurance....on just a half block that this activity may have some merit and could be considered a ride....especially by someone who would be happy to believe it . Like me.Bikes are happy, rider happy, eveybody happy!

Last Sunday morning, 09/27. I try to ride at least once a week so my #3 carb doesn't gum up and leak! If I go 2 weeks without a ride, the carb will leak on startup and for about 5 minutes of riding, then it will clear up and no leaks. Carb clean due soon!

Since we're moving out of State next week, I rode some of my favorite roads in north central Florida north of Tampa near Dade City one more time. Nice 2 lanes, a mix of curves and ups/downs and very minimal traffic on weekend mornings.

Two weeks ago, not that it was much of a ride, discovered when I filled it that it has a couple of rust pin holes, so the 98 RON fuel was dribbling out from under the tank badges, which made for a scary ride home. No biggie, my KBR tank liner kit arrived this week, so I'll seal it in readiness for a coat of paint and some decent rides when I come out of lockdown! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
