Got everything back together and sorted. Clutch was slipping, got that straightened out.

Went for a quick 40 degree blast a few miles down the road and back a couple different ways.

This exhaust has a very different sound to it, it’s not obnoxiously loud, which is what I wanted.

Apparently I did not fix my overflowing carb bowl issue, so I’ll have to revisit that.

All in all, though, things are coming along very nicely

Side covers
Fuel leak
Good exhaust one day

That’s all I can think of at the moment. Of course there will be more things that I want to do later, but for now it’s nearly done.

I’ll keep that in mind.

Took the bike out today to work since the weather is so nice. Still waiting for my side covers, but I’m pretty pleased with how it looks so far

Got my emblems ready to go onto the side covers when I get them back.

Got to ride to work today, wasn’t all frosty outside when I got up. Bike ran a little rough this morning, found the connector for the stator was loose on my junction plate.  I also found that my battery isn’t getting enough voltage to keep it charged up. Only producing 13.4 volts at 4k rpm.

I checked the stator, none of the coils are grounded, there’s continuity between all three, and each one is producing 14 volts AC. I’m almost positive that the problem is my cheap eBay regulator/rectifier.

Should’ve steered clear. Anyway, I’ll get a better one soon.

Been a little while, figured it’s time for an update.

I’ve been doing some tinkering, the bike is running really well. It seems like the bike really prefers warm weather.

I had a leaking fork that I’d been ignoring because it was a very small leak. As is to be expected, it became a much larger leak. I just got done putting everything back together after replacing the seal, the process went pretty smoothly other than the head snapping off of the drain plug while I was snugging it up. By some miraculous stroke of luck I was able to remove it with an extractor without destroying the threads.

I STILL don’t have my side covers back. The guy who’s been farting around with them showed me that they are in fact primed and ready to be painted, he’s just waiting for a chance to use the paint booth.

I’ve been riding as much as possible, and loving it.

They’re almost done! Dutch wants to buff/polish them so they look as good as the tank before he gives them back. He plans on doing it tonight, I should be able to pick them up in the morning

All right, the time has come, it’s finally all together.

It’s not perfect, and there’s a lot of things on it that could be cleaner and neater, but it’s a complete machine that I can ride.

I’ve had several people approach me while I was out and about on it before it was even done to give me compliments and tell me about the bikes like it that they used to ride. That’s a good feeling.

After everything was said and done, I spent some time riding the bike around for a few hundred miles, but it became clear after a while that I was too nervous about the possibility of wrecking it and ruining all of my hard work. I decided that it would be better served going to a new owner who could enjoy it.

And so I sold the bike, it went to a good home. Thanks for coming along with me on this journey! Maybe I’ll do it all over again with another one some day.

You built a beauty and sorry to see you let it go. I hope you got a good price for all your hard work and investment of time, money and skills.

I can understand your nervousness as it is just like owning a new car but multiplied because it is a motorcycle and even easier to wreck because of it.  Many times it is not your doing something to cause it but someone or something's else's actions that cause a wreck.

You may wish to ask calj in a PM... no telling if he will see your reply unearthing an old thread. Posting a request in the parts wanted section might be a good option as well.
