When I first installed those carbs built by Ebay expert "Carburettor Keith" it was running way too lean, so I adjusted the idle mixture screws which were all over the place, and lifted the needles and it was better, but once I installed the seals on the top of each slide that our "Expert" left out completely, suddenly there were no air leaks, and it was running a bit rich. I should probably do some more adjusting, but being as finicky as K0 carbs are, to save me some heartache, I think I'll swap the stock air filter out for a freer breathing K&N filter in the airbox, and see how they work with a bit less air restriction.

Terry, Quick question on your rebuilt carbs. Did they have the "washer, guide" (Honda #16151300303) under the spring in the throttle valves? When I opened my carbs up those washer, guides were not in there and the springs were riding on the needle retainer clips.

https://www.cmsnl.com/products/washerguide_16151300303/

I am not sure if there would be much of a performance impact without them but it would also be nice to know that all the correct parts are in place.

Thanks mate, and no, "Carburettor Keith", the Ebay carb "Expert" (and we all know what an "Expert" is....) left them out too, so like you, my springs are just sitting on top of the slides. I doubt that this makes much difference either, but it would have been nice if he'd included them, for $1000 USD (plus shipping) I would have expected that I could just "plug and play" without having to make a ton of adjustments, and find the missing pieces myself. ;D

Terry mate, I keep coming up with carb questions for you! Those seals/gaskets above the slides on the round-tops, did you have to make those or did you find a set that were correct?

The ones that came with the Yamiya rebuild kits are not correct for my carb model (center hole needs to be bigger for the spring keeper). I have a nice set of hollow punch gasket cutters that I can use to modify the Yamiya version but I don't know if there are any other differences I am missing.

Stockrider...... Terry and I just had this conversation! Those gaskets are designed for the centre pull, later carbs. You have the solution; punch away. See photo.

Interesting about fuel.
My K2 had start issues the first year. Like starting an old Flying Fortress or other VW2  4 engine bomber.

Suddenly it starts direct on all 4 without running on 2, 3 and 4 with smoke.
OK, the K1 head without seals on ex guides was one reason.
Replaced head with a restored K6 head, still not good start.

Final thing was another cylinder with 61.5mm K7 pistons and with that Shell V-Power as my K6 has got since 2014.
K2 had got Shell 95 Ron earlier.

Now start much easier after 2-3 months in garage. Fuel on, killswitch off.
Run starter 5 sec on full choke and full throttle.

Reduce choke a little to let air in.
Ign on and start with some throttle. All 4 runs direct!

Lets see what else you can find at restaurants beside  good bike roads. ;) ;D
You might have typical Aussie dishes, for you tasty meal for a good price? A nice view when eating is a bonus.

Terry..... these carbs came with my ‘75 Amen Chopper. I think they are from and early Kawasaki Z1 or K1000?? Do you recognize them? They are really clean inside. The main jet is a “115” and I think the slow jets are stamped “17.5” or “77.5”?? All that’s cast on them is MIC and MiKuni..... i’ll Take a few more pictures if you need to see more? Main through bore is about 27mm.  Thanks! John D.

G'Day John, yep Kawasaki KZ900 or KZ1000 carbs, or even early Suzuki GS1000. The early (very desirable) Z1 Mikuni's look similar, but don't that the cast web vertical piece at the back of the slide tube, and the float bowls have a removable plug for removing the main jet without dropping the float bowls. Not particularly valuable, as they were very common. ;D

Benelli, if you are looking to get rid of those.  I would be glad to throw some cash your way for them.  Do you need a set of roundtops to replace them with?  I have lots.  PM me if you want.

Thanks Per, the K0 has no problems starting or running on all 4 cylinders due probably to the nice fat spark from the Kokusan ignition and Dyna coils, but it just felt a bit "flat"? It's definitely a fuel issue, it just loves Shell V Power, so I'll keep using it, and avoid BP Ultimate unless I'm riding my Sportster, which seems to like it, and gets 65 MPG out of the stuff.

We've got a long weekend this weekend and the weather looks like it'll be good, so I think I'll do a couple of rides, and I might try somewhere else for a meal. My biggest problem is I can't eat much, so a big meal like your burger would be wasted on me. A couple of weeks ago I thought I'd try eating a pie and a jam donut, and even though I got them down, I thought my stomach would burst, so I've learned my lesson.

Anyway, I'll fill up with V Power and see if it's still running too rich with the needles raised one notch, and if so I'll drop them down for the next ride and see if that makes a difference. ;D

I have no idea about food in Australia. Probably influenced by all cultures that have moved in plus the natives.

I have seen many episodes of the TV show Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, you have lots of delicious food in USA.

I hoped to inspire Terry to reveal some own favourites on his rides.

How did those kits work out? I have not had good luck with Keyster. I bought kits from Vintagcb750.com. They are “Made in Japan” by Tour Max. Excellent quality and the bike seems to run extremely well on them. Vintagecb’s part number 48-1739.

Terry..... those kits must have been from a few years ago! Everything I’ve sourced lately looks like the ones I “punched”. As you suggested, they work just fine.....

I recently bought the CB750K0 kit from Keyster which contains the correct seals

Yes mate, that's the correct top seal. I think my kits were from Sudco from back in the day, which I'm pretty sure were from Japan. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey Terry maybe you should note down on key fobs which fuel each bike runs best on?

Now that's a brilliant idea Alan!

Thanks Per, there's really no such thing as "Australian Food". Australia is a nation of immigrants like the US, so we've adopted foods from all over the world. Aboriginals ate pretty much anything that moved, but there are no delicious Aboriginal meals, that I'm aware of.

Before WW2 Australia was very pro Britain, so most of our food was very English, then during the war we had lots of US servicemen here so burgers and hotdogs became popular, and after the war we had a huge influx of migrants from Europe, so lots of Italian food especially, but German/Austrian food.

In in the 70's we had a big intake of Asians, so Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, etc. Then of course in the 80's lots of Lebanese folks moved here, so Kebabs are pretty common too. Of course, there's Mexican food here too, but probably more American/Mexican as opposed to authentic Mexican, a bit like Pizza Hut or Dominoes Pizza's, compared to real Italian pizza. The American smoker/barbecue places are starting to pop up here and there, and I do like that stuff. Australia is probably the United Nations of food, when I think about it?

I have to go over to see my mate Fred to look at his collection of CB750 tanks as I may need another one for my K2 bitsa, and he lives an hour or so east of me, so I think I'll ride one of my Triumphs over to his place on the weekend, and ask him if there's somewhere nice to eat on his side of town? Even a small pizza would be nice, I haven't had one since my oldest son went back to Sydney a month ago. ;D
