Yes, covid shot is mandatory to get a life today. It would be better if they can provide a final cure that sometimes is discussed. I guess we'll need a refill every 6th month......

Update today 17 hours after:
My arm feels sore where she stabbed me. Maybe a little bit tired, more like an internal coolness. Work from home is really nice! ;D

This Swedish "nurse" far outshines the large Texas woman who shot me in the arm!
Per - can you make an appt for me?! I'd go every month to see her!!

Way back on March 19th the flavor of the day on the hard to get back then vaccine appointment was the J&J. For awhile not to long ago there was chatter on what us 33 million or so should do. Few weeks ago I got a Moderna booster. Still not happy with that combo but playin' the cards I was dealt. Wife got her 3rd dose of Moderna also.  We have both been sick since and I never used to catch anything  ::)   :D

Steve-o, I'm sure the nurse I show as an example is american. Just keep your eyes open, she's probably a biker ;D

I'm still OK, only the arm. Probably gone during the weekend.

There is quite a bit of silicone in that photo, but not sure it is in the syringe...

Sorry for being late to the party, I've just seen this. I had my first AstraZenica jab in May and second in August, so I think I'm due for the booster in February? No reaction at all, if I was any tougher, I'd rust. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Me and 'er indoors had our third poke 3 weeks ago. I've not had any ill effects from any of the jabs.  I'd forgotten about all of them by tea time.  Very nervous about this new strain though so I'm going to stay away from crowded areas till I see how it'll all pan out.  Get well soon if you have been affected.

An old Army mate of mine died of Covid-19 last week. I haven't seen him in years so don't know if he had any underlying health issues, but it did bring the whole thing home to me. Last year in March when Covid was in it's infancy here another old Army mate who was having chemo for lung cancer picked up covid when he was in hospital. He was in a bad way, was on a ventilator and his wife was told that he wouldn't make it. He did make it, but he's buggared now, is dragging an oxygen bottle around wherever he goes, and looks like sh1t.

We've been really lucky here in Oz with only 2100 deaths nationally from covid over the last two years, and I think our adult population is up around the 90% fully vaccinated mark, and over 16's around 80%. The latest variant doesn't appear to be any more lethal than the other variants, but it seem a lot more transmissible.

We have a drive thru testing station a mile up the road from my place and I'm constantly surprised at the fact that the line of cars seems to be growing, not receding as I would have expected with such high vaccination rates? Last time I looked there were around 1500 new cases per day nationally, but I presume (but don't know) that the folks lining up aren't necessarily there because they think they may have contracted the virus, but rather, that they need a covid test for their employers etc, as some employers require regular covid tests, my youngest boy works in the TV/Movie industry and has to have regular tests, even though he's double vaccinated.

We also have the government mandated "No Jab, No job" rule here, which I don't really understand, I'm fully vaccinated but I know I can still be a carrier even if I don't get very sick, so it wouldn't worry me if I had to work with someone who wasn't vaccinated as there is just as much chance of me giving them covid as them giving it to me? I guess it's just the government's way of getting everyone vaccinated. Strange days indeed....... ;D

Sorry to hear about your loss. In the early days of Covid I remember so many people saying they don't know anyone who's had it or died. Not really the case these days, after nearly two years. In the US, it's killed nearly one out of every 400 people.

In Mexico City the vaccination rate is (nominally) above 90% as well, and we are doing boosters. Things have been returning to normal but we'll see if that lasts.

But regarding vax requirements and work, while it is possible to get and transmit the virus if vaccinated, vaccinated people clear their virus load much quicker and therefore are contagious for less time (and of course don't suffer death and hospitalization at anywhere near the rates of unvaccinated people). So requiring vaccinations slows or prevents the spread of Covid as well, even if not 100%.

Yep, that is scary mate, I guess we've been lucky with only 2100 deaths, that equates to 1 in 12,000.

Within the US the bulk of the deaths have been in those over 65 and a very high percentage of those numbers being over 75.
The older you are or if you have other significant health risks for this disease, then your risks are higher.

Odd statistics is those over 100 often do not have severe case of Covid or they recover… heard that observation was coming out of all this being reported over 6 months ago.

Have you realized that 2022 is pronounced 2020 too…??

Same here David, due to one massive cock-up by our state government last year, it spread thru several old folks homes and killed 800 oldies over only a month or so. Makes sense, any virus or disease will affect oldies whose immune systems are weakening as they get older. Not sure about the over 100's here though, there are so few of them.

I was eating some Edam cheese yesterday and my wife told me that it's made backwards? No idea how they do that? ;D
