Greg, what's the current sale price?
Which Vette? What are you doing to it? I sold my 2012 GS but replaced it after being in line for 3 years.

Hey Jerry, I'd have to get $171,777.25 for it this morning.  I am thinking about #22 this afternoon if I can think of an interesting place to go, so it may be more later..

My son's 2001 Z06 broke its transmission mainshaft while he was having too much fun on an on-ramp.  We rebuilt the T56 6-speed and hope to have it all back together this weekend.  It's been quite a project.

I haven't pulled a transmission since breaking my 1st car, 63 Impala SS' BW aluminum T10 3 times in the year I had it. Bad habit of speed shifting to second without lifting my right foot haha.

Here's to hoping the 25 Z06 tranny holds up. Can't get into it for another 70 or so miles when the full 8600 redline opens up. Good luck getting it back together. Hope the garage is warm.

Keep your SS lubed up. $200,000 isn't too far off. Maybe it will be in the Honda museum one day as it deserves. See you out on the road!

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

The C5/C6/C7 configuration makes transmission work a little more complicated than just dropping it out of a car with the tranny mounted to the rear of the engine like the Good Lord intended. :D  I have found out why a simple clutch job on these costs $2000+ to have it done.
I am inclined to think the bike would go to $200,000 but I am going to have the pick up the pace if I am going to get it done before I am 80.  I've only put a little over 3000 miles on it in 2024.  Used to be 5-6000 a year when I was commuting on it.

#22.  After rain and snow in the morning, I waited for the roads to dry out and headed toward Marsing around 3 pm.  About 25 miles out the roads were still wet.  After a bit as the sun got low I noticed puddles along the road were getting a skim of ice.  I am not a fan of black ice and have heard discretion is the better part of valor, so I turned around.  But I got in 55 miles, so I'll count this one.

I have been posing the bike in front of this barn for many years.  The barn is slowing falling apart but it is still defying gravity.  One of these days we will have a big blow or a snow dump and that will be the end.  It will be a sad day.

They could repack oil,  "For old CB750 and similar bikes".
You with your bike on the label. "My bike loves this oil despite it does not drink it  in need of refills."

For owners that do not want to replace  valve guides, pistons, crank bearings.... ;D

Your riding style must help too.
I tortured my K6 the first years with not always good oil, WAT direct without warming up. The rings fell out in pieces when I lifted the cylinder after 2-3 seasons ;D ;D

Really important to be easy on throttle the first 20 minutes after start. Oil need to be warmed up.

My K6 with high power could slip the clutch if twisting the throttle and passing cars  too fast too early.
This despite an improved F2 clutch with hard springs (Barnett for CB500 and smaller, middle part number -66- instead of CB750 -56-)

It got new EBC fibers + fresh glass beaded metal disc in September. I'll be  better of waiting for oil to be fully warmed up, 20 minutes ride or more.

I also returned to 17:48 sprockets from a short period of 18:48. The latter was probably part of the last dyno run clutch slip. The EBC fibers had done over 40.000 km  with several hard dyno runs.

Good when oil will reach 100*C so condense (water) can leave the oil.

Yes.  Besides needing some prolonged heat to evaporate moisture out of the oil, oil needs to get up to a temperature sufficient to work as it should as a lubricant.  One of the potential problems with operating these engines in cold conditions is that the engines don't warm up well when in temperatures cooler than the mid-30's F.  I mentioned being able to hold my bare hand on the rocker cover after miles of running in temps in the mid-20's.  I could even touch the cooling fins briefly without it hurting.  The 750 in stock form has plenty of cooling capacity.  That is why I can ride stop and go traffic on it in 100 degree temps without fazing it (Spectro 20w50 HD gets some credit here), but it hay not be so good for it in really cold temperatures for shorter rides.  Maybe the engineers figured the engines were more likely to be operated in hot ambient temps than cold? :D  My airhead BMW is the same way.

It is not that nice to ride below +13C (55F).  I have had rides starting at +15*C, heading back home in 11*C which was OK.

Lower temp OK if testing something or hunting the annual number of rides to get a fine prize! ;D
15-25*C is my favourite riding temp range. A few more or less is possible.

Remember holiday down to Italy when I had to ride in 160kmh on the highway to cool down. My leather jacket opened the upper 10".

I have seen lots of condense thru the exhaust in lower temps, maybe 8-10*C. Oil cap gets oil water mix on its inside, like coffee with milk.

I have seen how a specific oil does not seem to wear that quick. Look fresh on dipstick after 5000km. Not thin as  a worn oil can.

Trevor contacted me today to see if I was still alive, as I haven't been doing much on this site lately. I'm happy to report that the rumours of my death are greatly exaggerated. Spotty and I have been busy working on my other Ducati S4 916 and I have dragged my poor VTR1000F out of the garage after 8 years or so, to finish between working on the Duck. I got the sh1ts with it when I burned my bare leg on the exhaust pipe and ended up with a bad infection, but I've forgiven it now, so am getting it ready for the road.

But anyway, I did get ride #35 in a couple of weeks back, on my current favourite bike, the K0. I had a great ride and did around 120 miles. I stopped for a pic or two on a lonely dirt road, but didn't go any further, for I was sure I could hear Banjo music......

K0 Sunday 8 November 2024. 2 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I turned around and hit the "B" roads again, and then happened upon these Christmas decorations. These folks put a lot of effort into their decorations, and I always love to stop and take a pic.

The car's an old Chrysler Royal, ugly old things IMHO, but still a few around. Anyway, 35 down, and hoping for another few rides between now and the end of the year. I'm on annual leave now until the 14th of January, so hoping I don't have too many chores to take me away from riding my bikes. Is currently hovering around 100 degrees F, but should be more rider-friendly tomorrow. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Nice ride Terry. I'm sure you like the sound of your K0's 4-4.

I like my K6 sound from the Hindle 4-2-1. 970cc help.
BUT, when riding my almost stock K2 with Yamiya no numbers 4-4 without the "wool" inside the feeling is different, older.
I remember my first rides on my K6 with its stock 4-4. Only 341 but similar not as loud and deep sound.
CB750 has a very special sound from 4 pipes.

Thanks Per, I’ve got a new Hindle 4-2-1 system that I’ll eventually put on my next K1 build with a hotrod engine and Lester wheels etc. The Yamiya pipes are great, it doesn’t seem like it’s lost any of its punch after removing the Delkevic 4 into 1, and dropping the needles a notch seems to have improved my fuel consumption too. I’m still surprised at how loud it is, but it’s not annoying. I might have to take it for a ride tomorrow. ;D

Cruising in 100-120kmh on my K6 is less loud than my K2 ;D

That's the good thing with the Hindle, possible to ride without screaming for attention unless the throttle is wide open on correct gear for high revs.
Low speed on 5th gear (50-100+kmh) gives a dark roaring sound if open throttle too much.

It's good to hear that you are still getting up on the right side of the grass!
And that you are getting out for a ride too, far different over here.... .

I have a new Hindle 4into2into1 system that I bought from Mike Reike last spring that will be going my latest purchase project F3. I'll it put on over the winter when I rebuild the carbs. It still has the stock exhaust on it but it's rusted with a clamped on patch.
I've been busy building a garage for a friend to be able to enjoy a ride on the few warmer days we have gotten the past month during the week days. Too much to have to be doing during any breaks in the weather.....
Enjoy your extended time off. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

12-14,2024, 52 miles, #91.

32F but the sun was out and roads had time to clear of any snow/ice so I took a ride after working Saturday. No special destination. Made one stop to pick up prescriptions at the drug store.

I dream of the day when I'll be able to get this many rides in! Kudos to you brother!

It is a one at a time deal :-). Really want to get to 96 and seeing that I should have went out for a spin on some nicer days earlier in the year :-). I'm not foolish yet to ride either of my bikes if there is snow/ice on the road. A dirt bike with some carbide studded tires might be fun though :-).

Got lucky today with temperature, about 68 degrees F.

Put about 30 miles on each one to let the sta-bil work in the carbs good..

Terry…… That photo perfectly captures what is just “so right” about the early bikes. Good to hear you are still alive! Enjoy the break and all the best for Christmas and the New Year! J.

Yes.  The first time I saw one I knew I would have one eventually.  The first time I rode one was when I had my '64 Duo Glide.  It was a revelation. I eventually sold the Harley and bought the '75F I still have.  So I didn't get a K but I think they are one of the best looking bikes ever made.

Thanks guys, I had a great ride. This week has been fantastic, well, Monday sucked as it was over 100 deg F, but the last couple of days have been brilliant ride days. Yesterday I took the K0 out again and had a fantastic ride #36 of around 90 miles, and found some more Christmas decorations to take a pic of.

I took a different route, and rolled into a tiny town and took another pic of the old red bike parked out the front of the old general store/post office, that has long been closed down.

First up this morning I met up with Rob, the former owner of the Kawasaki KZ750 at the DMV to cancel the old club permit and get a new one. Surprisingly, we were in and out of there with a shiny new red plate in only 20 minutes! Woohoo! I drove home, and decided that I needed to go for ride #37 on the green bike.

Not sure what fuel it preferred, I topped up the tank that had about half a tank of 91 RON with around 8 litres of 95 Ron. It seemed to like that, so I took off on one of my favourite routes, and stopped for a pic of the Christmas decorations outside a farm.

I rode out thru Romsey, Lancefield, thru my "Hidden Valley" where I had to snap another pic.

I rode back to Kilmore, then decided that a pie was in order for lunch, so rode to Broadford, only to find out that the bakery had closed down! Bugger, they weren't the best pies I've had, but certainly weren't the worst either. While I was staring at the closed down bakery, a lady of around my vintage asked me if I owned the green "Kwaka" (as we used to call them here) and asked if it had been restored? I explained that no, it was a "survivor" imported from the US with only 13000 miles on the odometer, and she couldn't believe it, her husband has a couple of Kawasaki's and apparently they've both done high mileages, in the 40-odd years that he's owned them. Anyway, she told me that she loved the bike, and wished me a Merry Christmas, which was nice.

By this stage I'd done around 90 miles and wasn't sure how much fuel I had left, so at the 98 mile mark I stopped at a big gas station and filled it up, and it took only 8 litres of fuel, which was amazing, seeing that I'd been cruising at 5000 RPM (80 MPH) for most of the ride. There was a KFC there, but I opted for a McDonalds cheese burger (which I'm sure was made from papier-mâché, as it had no taste at all) and a small chocolate shake, which was much better than the burger.

Hopefully I'll get a couple more rides in before Christmas, the Harley and Triumph are covered in dust, so they need a run, as do both BMW's, the black VTR1000F, the Ducati, the BMW's, the Z1-B, the DT250, etc etc. I'm so looking forwards to retire in December next year so I can do more riding. Anyway, the Kawasaki went really well, apparently loves 98 RON fuel, and is a pleasure to ride. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry, you have some bikes to keep running by riding them.
What about to the Kwaka vs CB750 K0. Which one do you prefer?
Maybe both?
