As you can see, there's this epoxy looking brown (looks black) thing in front of my front chain drive sprocket.  I'm guessing at one time the chain broke and put a hole in there and the PO tried to patch it up? 

Do yall have this goop so that incase this happens it protects the case?  How do you remove it?

You could probably use a dremel with a sander wheel or grind wheel to remove it.

Can I assume you want to remove it to have it welded?

Ditto. 
If it's sufficiently plugging a hole in the case, I wouldn't go messing with it unless you plan on doing something else to stem the flow of oil.

Damn it,  I should have checked before I bought this piece of junk.  I don't want no patched up hole in my engine.  I intended to split the cases but now I guess I'll just leave it.
