I have an update for this thread; Not long ago I was up to around 145 on a deserted freeway in the middle of the night on my '08 Honda CBR 600RR.  That's the fastest I've ever went.  It was fun.   :)

135MPH on  I-95 between Brunswick GA and Jacksonville FL on a 1993 Honda CBR1000F with Givi saddlebags and tail trunk.  It was about 2:00 AM and I was headed to the races in Daytona.  I had been riding at about 85 MPH, my normal cruising speed when I was passed by two Suzuki GSX-Rs going much faster than I was.  I let them get about a mile up the road hoping they would attract any cops and then decided to see what the bike would do.  I chickened out at 135, but the bike was still quite stable at that speed, even with all the weight in the saddlebags and tail trunk.

The fastest I ever went on a SOHC was on a CB750K0 in the early 1970s riding from Deland to Daytona Beach on Hwy 92, in the early morning hours after dropping off a date.  I was riding with a friend who was also on a K0.  The speedometer said 130, but I'm sure it wasn't that fast.  The tach was around 8,000 RPM, but the needle was wavering around, so I'm not sure of the RPMs.  The gearing was whatever Honda changes it to after the recall for the broken chain problem.

Related to this.  One year at Daytona, I put the K0 on a dyno when the American Motorcycle Institute was offering free dyno runs.  The guys there said my stock K0 (except for baffles out) was putting out as much horsepower at the Kawaski Z1s.  Ah, the good old days...

130mph on a '99 Yamaha YZF600R.  Only managed to look at speedo, not tacho.  Tunnel vision started to set in, had to pull back.  I have no idea how some people can go 200+mph on two wheels...

95mph so far on the newly acquired '77 CB750 K7.  Just 5 more to get to the TON!   >:(   :D

I never made it to 100MPH this year. Chain problems and a disintergrating sprockets dampened the attempt. But, next season will be a different story with new drivetrain and this and that  ;)

Recently I hit 135 mph and still climbing on my 1991 ST1100, sitting up. Years ago 1976 I built a CB750 with stock gearing 18/48 and the tach was reading 9500 in 5th. That bike weighed right at 400 lbs. I am guessing that that would be in the 140 mph plus range. The 1974 CB750 that I have today does at least 110 mph. I never have had a chance to really take all the way.

I like hitting a 100 at least one each time I ride. I don't know why, it is just because.

Me too. Its like a badge of honor. On the FJR I can do it in 3rd gear, moments after leaving a stop. Grab a handful of brake and no one is the wiser,

This CB - 70mph. I feel like poor relative here, but it takes time to trust the bike. At least for me.

Not mine, not SOHC, but plenty fast:
I took a ride on a Z1000 a while back. I was told to keep up with the others but fell to the rear, following a ZX10 rider with full racing gear on. When entering the freeway on the cloverleaf ramp I was being left in the dust so I turned it loose through one gear, maybe third, and wound the engine up.... seemed like I was going pretty fast so I backed off a bit, then glanced down at the speedo holding 104, on a busy suburban freeway, through the speedtrap capital of the US. Thats the fastest I've been on a MC since ??
I think this was the Cycle World "Bike of the Year" and its mighty nice but more than what I would be using around here. Maybe at the track, in West Texas, Montana, or for some canyon carving, I don't know. I had the good sense not to upshift for more speed or it coulda been 140 or more. I've been looking for tracktest/performance curves but haven't found any.

Not sure about RPMs bit probably around 9000-9500 RPM
Took a quick look at the speedo and it read about 120 MPH. I'm not too sure how accurate the speedometer is but I know it was really fast! Luckily it was about 4 miles of straight roads ahead of me but I was too scared to blow up the bike to go any faster

Indicated 115mph on the cb550, I know the speedos lie.   No rev counter cable. :(

Twisted it up to 100MPH this morning on the way to WORK for some reason!  :o
I do like the 18T front sprocket better than the 17T. I do more communting to work (HWY) riding than banging around town. Bike felt GREAT and ran very well. Model is a 1973 CB750 K3. The motor in my avatar did the work this AM.

Just could not get GZ to ton-up with me on the trip to NM to meet Proto... I blame strong winds and the extra 15-20 pounds in my tankbag.  We got close (about 93mph) but that's all the baby 350f could muster.  She's really workin' hard at those speeds, and I've never been able to ton-up unless I'm fully tucked, which a foot tall tank bag won't allow for either.  Oh well, I think 'zilla still enjoyed the ride!

Heffay...........You mean LEFTY..............I'll give him a fast ride on my stock K3.........about 110.

Back in the day (1969) I rode Route 66 from Chicago to LA.  The roadway across the Texas panhandle is basically flat and straight..........so fully loaded and with a windshield, I held the speedo on my K0 at 120 after I had it up to 124. Very poor gas mileage.  I did slow down for Amarillo and filled the tank with 22.9-cent premium..........then back up to 120 to the next station in NM.

210km/h, 130mp/h with passenger and fully loaded by bagage as  tank bag +  side cases. Did no go faster without bagage and passenger either.
My goal is closer to 230km/h, 140mp/h next time the bike will hit the road with a hotter cam than my modest AF SS-1. Bike was very stable with extra load on. Stearing damper is a must on a CB750
