I had my '06 SV650 over 100mph more times than I could count.

The fastest I've ever had my 78 CB750 is when I rolled it out of the back of my truck into my garage.

85mph on 78 550, ~8000rpm.  for some reason the Manhattan Bridge going from Brooklyn into Manhattan is often nearly empty at weekday rushour--five minutes to 9 more precisely--when i'm headed to work.  maybe its just that i make it out of the light first    its one of the few places around nyc to open up the throttle on a long and straight stretch of pavement without monster potholes and with no cars around.  in this situation 85mph happens with ease and coincides with a killer view of the city.  the return trip to brooklyn is a totally different story most nights and sometimes the definition of terrifying: windy upper roadway with massive expansion joints, potholes, metal grates, concrete barriers, delivery trucks and tourbuses.  oh, and wavy-ass, light-sucking, patched up asphalt.  i happily ride under 40mph at those times.

You got a big pair going over the Manhattan Bridge anytime. I tip my hat to you.

i take my k5 over 100 atleast once a month or so. A few of us are preping for elmirage right now. Im going for 140 on a stock engine 750. Should be no prob

Sorry Josh but there is no way your stock 750/4 will do 140 MPH, they were struggling to get 120 stock, unless you have a very very long hill and a tailwind, i doubt you will get any where near 140. Also without a steering damper i wouldn't even go over the ton.

I got her up to 90 mph twice the other night and she runs a lot better now. I would have tried for the ton, but a curve and transfer trucks kept me from going any faster

Sorry Josh but there is no way your stock 750/4 will do 140 MPH, they were struggling to get 120 stock, unless you have a very very long hill and a tailwind, i doubt you will get any where near 140. Also without a steering damper i wouldn't even go over the ton.

El mirage is a dry lake bed in SO CAL. Its kinda like bonneville just not so far from me. And im running a stock motor not a totaly stock bike. Ive got rear sprockets down to 36t and a few other tricks up my sleeve. Im the second owner of my bike, The first is my uncle Steve Douke. He bought it new when he was a tech at South City Honda Cycles in sacramento. Hes still with honda and has about 20sohc's in the barn in various stages of restoration. With proper tunning 140 wont be a prob. It helps that i weigh 145 pound and yes a steering stabalizers already on the bike.

Good luck. It takes a lot of horsepower to pull a 36t sprocket to redline. That's Daytona gearing, 90hp stuff.

Seriously though, I watched "worlds fastest indian" so good luck and let us know.

   Im not sure which sprocket i will be running yet. I've got em in 1t incraments from 36t to 52t. I will probably settle around 42t. That should end up at 140mph around 8k rpm. Worlds fastest is an amazing story and it did push me quite a bit to go out there and go for it.

i went 200 mph on my honda ruckus yesterday. ...up hill too!
 its turbo'd with a blower and NOS!!!  it has flames painted on it so people know how fast it is.
next week i'm going for 215.

Got up to 110 mph a couple of weeks ago. I was cruising between 70-80 mph on the interstate, it opened up to 6 lanes and I couldn't help but open her up a little. I don't remember the rpms, but I had a good bit more throttle to go. I had a summer mesh jacket that was acting as a sail with the padding in it at that speed, so I was tucked and looking between the speedo and the tach tucked up really tight.

Tried for a hundred in the late 70's with the 750 but chickened out.  Was at 95 (or so) and the speedo seemed stuck and since the area was known to be patroled, I backed off.

Man, I've done exactly that, on the same bike. Loved that machine while she was still alive.

I've only had my 78 750a up to about 87 MPH. No idea what the RPMs might be, since I have no tach. I'd like to get a windscreen before I go any faster. It's awfully hard to see where you are going when your eyes are welling up like that!

I have to have a conversion site open to read tis thread, I only speak KPH.

I've had my ZRX up to 142 indicated (probably closer to 130 actual because of the speedo error) = SCARY  !

So far I've only had my '78 CB 750 up to about 2mph rolling it off my trailer.  Gotta get the thing running first.
