Where can I purchase different jet sizes for my 77??
« on: April 04, 2008, 06:43:33 PM »
Looking around the various sites that sell parts for our beloved SOHC's, I dont see any places offering different sized jets.  I have a 77 750, which has the crazy combo mainjet/needlejet and press-fit pilots (maybe all years do, I dunno), and I just put pods and a 4 into 1 exhaust on.

Do Honda dealers generally carry these, or are they an online only item these days?  And for that matter where can I find them online?

I just got mine from the Honda shop, 'tis a special order item, out of one of the distributor catalogs...

Stock pressed in pilots are #35s and I haven't seen them in any sizes other the 35.  I think its is Sirius Inc that actually sells replacement press in pilots.  They should have main jets for you.  Stock #35 pilots should probably be fine particularly if they are actually clean.

Any idea where?  The main jets they show and the pilot jets are not at all what goes into a CB750 carb.

Scroll down to the Keihin section  Main jets screw in type.

Honda still sells them in 110 and 115 (stock sizes for K F and A models 77-78), my local shop said more sizes can be found from Keihin directly, but I have yet to investigate that option.

Good luck hunting and be ready to pay a pretty penny, 77/78 stuff is more rare and pricier then most other CB generations except the almighty sandcasts.

That's why I like CRC for jets.  Sizes 72.5-200  $3.25 each.
And they have my XS Eleven too.

me carbs on my 750 F
You mean this? http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/misc_carb_parts.htm#Main%20Jets

I dont think those will work.  My carbs have the combination mainjet/needlejet.  I dont see that type there.
Yes those are the main jets on your carbs.  Same carbs on my 750 F.  The mains screw into the bottom of the needle jet holder.

I had been buying my jets from DynoJet, but the shipping costs more than a set of jets.  $2/jet = $8 plus $15 shipping for 2 day UPS.  They won't throw the jets in an envelope with a stamp on it for you, either.

The big problem with mail order is that unless you get the right jets first time, your project will be waiting for another delivery.  I got tired of waiting for deliveries and paying for shipping, so I just finally took one of my old jets to the local independent Japanese motorcycle shop and they pulled jets from their "take off" box.  They had several sets of jets that had been used in re-jetting other people's bikes.  They charged me $4/jet, but I got the right ones on the spot, and I didn't have to wait for shipping, so I got my bike done that day.

I suspect that what you are doing is trying to undo the main jet and the whole assembly is comming out but the jet will unscrew from the bottom if you grip the big bit firmly but gently and use a screwdriver(I think) in the slot in the jet. then there are only a couple of different threads for main jets and i think all the Hondas are the same.

Now if it was a 400/500/550 with the push in jets that is a diffferent story!!!

The push in pilots were not available at all, even from Honda, for many years but i believe sirius has started making/selling them

I guess I'm just spoiled . . . my local shop used to have a lot of buisness from the Cb750's back in the day so they have tons of stupid stuff like jets, brake pucks, cables ect. in stock. Jets are $1.25, brass or nylon, I think they only have main jets but sizes everywhere from 85 all the way to 190 (wonder who's 750 takes a 190 size main?!?) I tried for a couple weeks last summer to get my '71 K1 jetted right with pod filters but finally gave up and gave in to the shop's mechanic and put the stock air box back on with a KnN filter. I'll never go back, man does it run good with that stock air box. Anyone want to buy some pod filters? lol
