Ok, sorry it took so long to get the pics of the front hub and discs, but here they are. It is hard to tell from the pics, but there is roughly .25" of clearance between the inner caliper and spokes on the left side when facing the bike, and roughly 3/16" clearance on the right side. The hub is not machined down in any way, the gsxr rotors are attached directly to it, and what you see is what you get. The left side rotor resides roughly in the middle of the caliper. However, the right side is offset very minimally to the right side of the caliper and rubs the discs a little. I didn't find this out until I put it back together for the final time. However, to cure the problem, I will mill down about 1/16" to 1/8" off the inside of the caliper where it mounts to the fork leg. I am sure that I could just take a file to the caliper mounts and take them down enough in just a couple minutes. All in all, it is a very simple swap: the steer tube works just fine with the bearings that were mentioned previously in the thread. Here are some pics to show; can't see much, but if you look hard you will get the idea.
On the lines of progress, engine is back in the frame, and everthing is wired. It took a little while to get the frame back from powder coat, and I had to fix the frame myself...at least I know it was done right. As of now, I just need to torque some bolts and finish some misc. and it should be ready to go. Attached are some teaser pics. I still need to paint the exhaust, but it is amazing how dirty the bike looks in the pics...kinda sad really as in life it looks very clean...oh well.
