I snuck a 20 minute ride in on the 550. Can't tell you how good that felt, just the therapy I needed!
that always makes me feel right as rain ,as well

you and all of us here understand that in situations like these ,your loved ones take priority over you,          just don't forget about you

meaning: i'm sure this is has got to be a stressful time for your family , those little 20 minutes here and there, give you a release and help you stay focused. (...don't forget the wife either)

great to hear things are looking up for you and yours,  wish you the best

Great news, man!! I know we all have let out a small sigh of relief for you.

Hey everyone. I'm sorry it's been so long since I've taken the time to update.

Don't be ridiculous. All of us parents couldn't imagine having to go through what you and you family are dealing with. And like Eldar said, you have your priorities right where they need to be!

By the way...long ago in a land far away, I took a first aid class in order to lead freshman camping trips (that's how we did orientation for new freshmen--cool college). Anyhoo, I forgot everything from the class except for two things. The first is relevant.

What's the first thing in first aid? The first thing is: Make sure you are alright. This applies to any situation in which a person must care for another. You are little good to someone else if you are not alright yourself.

Take the 20 minutes here and there. Take the ride. It'll be good for you and your whole family. Let go of the guilt in finding a minute for yourself, and encourage your wife to do the same.

Now, the only other thing I can remember from that class is that if you put a tourniquet on someone, you are supposed to write a big "T" on the patient's forehead with blood. While that may be a useful piece of information, I find myself sharing it less often. ;-)

All Bre's therapist have been in today, and can see improvement for the week. She follows better with her eyes, reponds better to touch and sound. Encouraging, but damn, it's a slow frustrating proccess. The more alert she becomes, the worse her periods of agitation. They say that's good though, it show more inputs are coming through to tick her off. She's a tough little gal though, half beauty queen and half tomboy, her attitude will have a lot to do with this.

Well lets see. it sounds like she is awake now from the eyes following part. She can move a little. Sounds like darn good progress. After seeing her run through the park and laugh and play, I can see how this waiting can seem like slow progress. It is clear she wants to be playing too.
No matter what, this is good news. Things could have been so much worse. Always remember that and it may help you keep your patience.

Just tell her she has to get better cause she has to learn to ride the 550! ;)

Oh yeah, like eldar says, that IS good news. Patience can be very hard on us, especially when it involves a loved one.
Hang in there and remember that you all are still in our thoughts and Prayers.

I feel kinda bad cause, Jay gave me that link to see updates on Bre's condition and I did post her once. Then, right after I got another update, I saw where Jay had already posted. I think there was one that basically said she was still making progress, but it was slow coming and I neglected to get that one posted. Then, the next thing I know, a little while goes by and suddenly I get this new update and figured I'd better get on the stick.

" Things are still slow, but sure. Bre is as alert as she's ever been, and the Doctor has taken some meds away, as she feels she doesn't need them any more. Speech, Occupational Physical Theraphys keep her busy most of the morning, then Kirstina works with her in those areas all afternoon. Overall, slow and steady. "

That's it for now. As others, along with myself have said, "Our Prayers and Thoughts are withyou all ( Bre, Kirstina, & Jay).  ;) ;)

Thanks, Bill. I know that's so hard on Jay and his wife, but it's so good to hear about slow progress.

Thanks for picking up the ball for me Bill. I'm pretty much back at work, trying to catch up from almost 6 weeks of being gone. The doctor was in yesterday, and though things change very slowly, she had positive things to say. Bre's best friend went with my wife yesterday and spent time reading to Bre and just hanging out. My wife said that she definitely knew she was there. My wife has put her career on hold and spends her days doing therapy and helps nurse Bre. I spend all the time I can, but unfortunately the world doesn't stop turning, eventually you have to make a living. So things are still slow, but she is moving forward. More later,

Stay strong Jay. Every day a bit more and momentum kicks in and you see faster improvement.

Hey Jay, I had a wonderful experience today, and I was able to share prayer requests for Bre. Coming out of the Dunkin Donuts, there was a group of bikers, and I spotted my MSF instructor among them. As it turns out, they are members of the Christian Motorcycle Association (http://cmausa.org/), and they were making a one hour run out to a fish fry. My MSF instructor, now a full time minister, persuaded me to go along. It was a great ride.

There were about 15 of us, and after I shared Breanna's plight, they were all very eager to pray for her. You've got another 15 bikers praying and spreading the word.

Awesome Burma, thank you. As I said in my last post, I've had to go back to work. I didn't see Bre for 4 days, she is 70 miles away and I was working 12 hours per day. When I saw her yesterday, the changes were obvious to me. Still slow mind you, but in the right direction. It's kind of like watching grass grow, if you sit and watch you doin't see any change, but step back a while, and you can see it.

Thank you for the kind words guys. I just try to help out where I can, you know? Got things going on myself, but I try to give all the support I can, to those who need it. I figure that we should be there for one another, cause that's what it's all about. ;)

Jay, it's just great that Bre is making progress. Slow progress sure is better than none at all. God bless you all. ;)

I was trying to keep you all up on how things were going with Bre, when Jay wasn't able to and got so tied up with the "Garbage" that my bother and his wife have been pulling on my Dad, hat I've been slipping on this one. Best I remember, she's still making slow progress and I believe that she's breathing on her own now. I'll do my best to get the actual info and get back her today.  Sorry about that.
