Oh my God, what a douche canoe that Carpy is. I used to think that dude was cool. There wasn't even any prelude into his thread-jacking. Not even a "hey, nice build, here's mine...". I hate cats like that. That bike of his licks my butthole anyway.

Johnny, even though I think the engraving is a bit much, it is a very quality job. Keep it up. It'll be a nice show bike.

Toxic,

The rear tire is a Cheng Shin  130/90-17.  The front a Kenda Challenger 100/90-19. They were on the bike when I bought it last year and are a little worn. Will replace them next year sometime.

It's been a while with any updates.

Got the upper engine broke down. Gave the cylinders a very light hone and installed new rings. Even though everything was in spec, I figured it couldnt hurt. Cleaned up the carbon from the head and pistons. Painted the jugs and head flat black.







A few days before I got the engine in the bike, the frame fell off its blocks and bit my foot. Broke a toe or two. A week later, it's still hurting a little. No pain, no glory, right?




But the bike is now almost done. I changed the paint for the accents and went with a burnt orange flake. I think it helps give the bike a little more pop. Just waiting on getting the seat. Also need new chain and sprockets. Will be going with a 530 chain and 17t front with a 48t rear.









Here's a short clip of the bike running a couple days ago.

May have been answered already somewhere else, but I'll ask it here.

Is the early tank conversion a bolt on thing for the 77 / 78 cb750?  If not, what mods have to be done?

As far as the older style tank fitting a 77 frame, it's a perfect fit. However, the stock seat pan wont work very well because the 77 tank is about 2 inches longer.

Finally got to working on the rear fender and taillights. They are all wired and sorta work. The taillight stays lit when the power is on, Im assuming this is the running light feature, but the blinkers stay lit when when I switch them on. Gotta work that out.

I cut the stock fender off about 6" and used the frame tail holes and drilled holes into the fender and mounted it. The fender is basically "wedged between the frame and the taillight mounting bolts. Feels rock solid and it all went easier than I thought it would and am happy how it looks. Glad to keep the original rolled edges on the fender. Sometime this year, I'll get the 11.5" rear shocks to lower it and make it look even better by filling in that gap between the tire and the fender.



Cool thing is that the taillight has an integrated section of the light along the bottom of the red part for the license plate. It's clear there. Very clever and keeps me legal.

nice tip about the fender; i agree with the rolled edge and think it looks good even if not lowered in back. sharp ride!

It's actually burnt orange. The pictures make it look red though. But the paint is Duplicolor Metal Specks with some clear coat over top. If it doesnt hold up, Im going to repaint those with automotive paint but wanted to cut some costs out for now.

The metal specks paint is really nice looking too. Definitely needs a clear coat over it to really give it shine.

Thanks everyone.

The bike is finally finished. Here it is and the only change is that I now have drag bars on it instead of the clubmans. After completing the seat, the ride height changed and there was too much pressure on my wrist. With the drag bars, it's perfect.

Thanks to Sean from Roc City Cafe for the seat pan. I used vinyl from Joanne Fabrics. Foam from Meijers garden section and the seat buckle from my stock seat.

Had to ditch the clubmans because they killed my wrist since I dont have rearsets....yet. ;)


So put on a drag bar. Great feel. I also put on different shocks and lowered it about 1.5". Will post a picture of that soon.

Some people can pull off clubmans but I agree, drag bars work better with the stock footpeg location.
