CB550 cafe in OZ

Howdy all thought it was time i posted some pictures of the rebuild, these photos are just at mock up stage and the rear bobtail isnt fitted properly yet.Been a lot of muching around to get to this stage, but been fun all the way along.

I think it will look like no other hopefully, stay tuned as i think the custom made exhaust/mufflers will blow a few away and will really set the bike off.

Rear sets are of a Hyabusa 1300 and sort of look at home on the old girl.

And good or bad feed back will be very much apreciated, Colour scheme is a copy of the Ducati 1000s paul smart replica and should look sweet with those nice Akront alloy rims

I like the frame, the colour is very different but it works well...

Gidday mate, i am still tossing up options there, and measuring sets at the wreckers.I will have to chuck the old ones on untill i find something suitable.

Ahhhhh....The Paul Smart Sport Classic 1000s!  It's my dream bike.....I will have one someday.  You have a great start going there and I can't wait to see it's evolution.

As soon as I've got a minute I'll give the rear fender a look. I'm considering making a shorty too.
Do you want the full length currently used on my bike?

Awesome.  I like the color combo of the Smart as well.  And you're right, the rearsets do look pretty cozy.  The design looks right with the rounded curves and slots instead of straight drilled holes.

Bloody outh mate, i would snap it up of you.

Would it be ok to shorten it, or would it ruin the carbon fibre ?

Shortening the one I currently have would loose the edge bead.
That's why I'm going to make a new mold for a shorty.
I'll keep you posted when I get that sorted out.

Here you go, it is hinged using the origanol hinge and lock, makes it easy to get to wiring and battery

No mate, i brought it from a bloke who makes them over here in OZ. Not made for this bike but it wasnt to bad making it fit.

Nice looking project. Just curious, how do you cover the gap between the seat & the tank? Does the seat cushion cover that?

Just what I've been looking for. A pic that shows how the original hinges and latch can be adapted to a glass seat. Hope you don't mind me pinching your pic as a reference for my seat.......

How do you plan on extending the wires to make it to the rear of the seat? Using a 2nd harness and chopping them up? I am curious, cuz I want to do the same thing. I love the hinge idea. great idea.
