Well I am happy to reports that I was able to ride the bike to work for the first time today. Ride went well, I can tell that she still needs some tuning. But it's progress! I plan on doing one more teardown over the winter to clean everything up, repaint a few things and make an actually harness. For now though, all I'm gonna do is RIDE!

Well, the bike made it to work on Fri but didn't make it home till Sunday  When I left for lunch the bike would die at every stoplight I came to and finally just wouldn't start anymore. Figured it was something to do with my charging system and sure enough I got a change to do some testing tonight and my rectifier shot craps. Not only that but after charging the battery for almost 10 hours the voltage was only reading 11 volts. So I picked up a new battery tonight and am working on getting a replacement rectifier. It just never ends......

Checked all the specs on it and it will work for sure...(very robust and tough unit - 3 phase Bridge Rectifier 100A) the ONLY reason I didn't use mine was that my regulator was toatsy too...so I bought a combo unit.    I'm not using it....

(I grabbed the photo off the net...it isn't the actual unit but almost identical less the screws)

Thanks for the input HedNut, followed Pinhead's thread and finally got the charging system working last night. Turns out I had a bad ground coming from the field coil. Got that resolved and she's charging right at 14 volts  I'm still having some issues with backfiring and it feels like my clutch is sticking a bit, but one thing at a time.

In other news, the other day I got my valve cover pulled off because something didn't sound right in the top end. Turns out the locknut on the #2 intake tappet adjustment screw had backed itself all the way off and was just lying there. So the #2 intake valve was never opening  Replaced it with a spare one I had, reset the clearances and it's all good. Also have a leaking fork seal, my tach sticks and my speedo reads 10mph OVER what i'm actually going. No wonder everyone was passing me

Just a quick update, switched out the 4-2 open crossovers I have on the bike for another set of 4-2's in had in the garage, the neighbors and my wife seem a bit happier with me now when I leave for work  Also swapped out my forks for another set that weren't corroded all to hell. She's still chuggin right along

So I know that I fell off the face of the planet for a bit (again) but the bike is still moving right along  . Gonna post some updated pics hopefully tonight of tomorrow. Just wondering, has anyone ever seen a master cylinder that has an integrated throttle housing? I'm trying to clean my bars up and that's the last piece of the puzzle. I already have a low-profile switch housing and bar-end mirrors on the way. Pics coming!!!

Well the bike's still moving along. Got a rear fender and some daytona bars for it. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what might be causing blowback out of the vent in the valve cover but only after the bike's warmed up. Here's a video of what it's doing:

you need a tube from the cover to just in front of the fender behind the motor it sounds like the idle is high and maybe a little rich that is usually what causes so much blowby  it could also be that your rings are worn on this motor but I still think it is just running too rich and the idle is too high after it is warmed up

Did the guy selling your inspiration for the build happen to say what seat he had on the bike?

Yeah, this is pretty much as budget of a build as you can get. I'm slowly gathering parts, thankfully most of what I need I already have on hand. I can't even touch the price that powdercoating would cost 

You may not be able to powder coat but what you can do is to strip the frame with paint stripper and get all of the paint off and then take it too a powder coaters and just have them dip it in phosphoric acid to kill all the rust. Then take it home and paint it with the engine enamel.

So what happened? Did referee Richard Steele call a stop to the bout,ruling against the Streetfighter due to another bad motor?

How did the DIY paint job hold up after almost 2 yrs now?

The Streetfighter planning a comeback or is he down for the count?
