Well I finally did it. I took the tins from the diecast to the paint shop. I have a set of new stripes along too so I'll have feankenbikes sidecovers, a new airbox, plastic chain guard, a real K0 headlight bucket and fork ears and the wrinkle tank. The guy did an awesome job on the brown K1, so I gave him another shot.

She will look great with the new paint job...she looked pretty good before it. Lesters or Morris wheels (or Kawa) are nice looking wheels.

The owners at my favorite bike shop (Charlies Cycle Supply) told me I needed a set of Lester mags, I checked Craigs list on a whim and there was this 750 with Lesters in their home town. It's a small village with only a dozen or so houses. It turned out the owner of this bike tried to buy the personal K0 from the owner of the bike shop, he didn't want to sell so the guy built a clone.

Superbike bars, ducktail seats and that black bike would be done.. I like the lowering blocks and stance.
I could use a gold light bucket like you got in the pic. .

I agree frank, I'm thinking 71 euro bars, it currently has a ducktail seat although very hard foam, I'm considering buying a nicer re-pop and putting this one on a K2, which is cheaper than a red seat foam from Yamiya LOL.

Here's a pic with the seat and tank from the dragbike project. I realized I don't have very many pictures of it recently, probably because I'm not considering this one for sale.

After reading the k0/k1 seat fitment question I checked mine and it's as bad as the one in question. When it closes the seat really has to be pushed down, causes may be cheap seat, hinges bent down, short hinges, tall rubber pads, if I loosen the bolts a full turn it all eases up. It may be denting in the lower part of the tank also, this must be remedied before the wrinkle tank comes back from paint.
I've been watching DSS for the better quality seats to return to stock.

The OP in the tech question said he has the better quality DSS seat, hmmm,

He added on to the shop (new building) and the boxes of parts got lost in the back room. He recently noticed them sitting back there and realized he'd forgotten about it. lol. I'm going after lunch to pick it up.

The next question is, do I leave the ported, too big cam, k4 836 or rebuild the no number K0 replacement engine for it? It is turning into more resto than mod. L0L! New sidecover emblems are in the mail and the repro ductail seat is on but it still has the late Yoshi looking header with a Dunstall look long muffler. Runs like a scalded dog and sounds awesome but looks a little odd. (Not in this picture)

It's supposed to be candy blue green. it looks awfully dark, I gave him the paint codes from a NOS sidecover I had shot by a paint rep. Here's hoping it's just the photo and it's lighter in person.

I picked it up, it may be a little dark but not too bad. It's a shame he didn't have a sample to go on. In the sunlight it does look good though. The new sidecover emblems are here. I may need to get a stock exhaust now.

I told him my plan and he seemed interested. I need to sell a couple bikes, I have the money for the chassis but not to make it a roller, those big brakes are expensive. They come with Wilwood spindles on the front and the back will be easy. I could forgo rear brakes for a while to get it home on a trailer.

Thanks. Really, I thought it was too blue and too dark. I just took it all out of the boxes in the mix of florescent and LED lights and it turned green and really pops. Regardless it's painted. Tomorrow I take my brother to his dr apt at the VA but this weekend I'm going to put on the trim and gas caps etc. The Z1 supplied sidecover emblems came last week and the tank badges will be double taped on like the ones I've done recently.

I began pre assembly of the 70, I got the smooth air box assembled using old hardware from a corrugated air box. I'm glad I have a complete sandcast air box to look at, it was cracked on the bottom from being overtightened I was able to avoid the issue on this new one by adding a pair of stop nuts so it can't draw up too tight. The sidecover emblems are on, the holes are a little closer together than stock but I hadn't drilled the new sidecovers yet so that worked out.
Advance auto parts sells an aluminum mesh that looks perfect in the sidecover louvers. It's usually used to hold bondo when covering a hole. This is a better use lol. I painted it black, cut it to fit and next it gets hot glued in place.

There was a batch of Honda wrenches on ebay for a long time, the 3 K0 end wrenches are in the set and the cast shock wrench too. I'll have a few spares I could pass along or trade including a couple of the 8/12mm. I got a few Kawasaki wrenches for my KZ kit and a couple of the usual cb end wrenches too. I'm in need of an old wrench extension with the hole through it.

It's funny, I just reread through the thread to remind myself how long it's been going on, this paint took 9 years to happen and I've had the sandcast 4 1/2 years.
I'm watching JT Marks new in the box speedometer for $1500+ on ebay. I even have a sandcast gear drive for mine, the perceived value makes it difficult to bolt it to that bike.
