Installed the new Seat Concepts seat on my CRF450x and installed new sprockets.  Need to bleed brakes

Think I found the source for the blown fuse when I use my turn signals.  The grab bar was rubbing on the fender - pinching the turn signal wires and shorting them out.

Now I have to repair and re-wire the turn signals.  No big deal - just more work than I wanted.

funny you should say that... to me sohc's are less and less work...they are so rock solid dependable, I hardly have to do much to them

It took me a while to get my bike to a place where I too don't have to do much to it.

My bike was rode hard and put away wet when I got it, so it had lots and lots of issues.  I've slowly but surely chipped away at those issues.
I have a lot of incidental tweaks, but some of those are probably not really necessary - the fact that the bike's mainly mechanical rather than electronic probably encourages me to do more than I normally would.

I completely agree, Sean. Once I get to the point of being happy with how my bike is set up, it should be very little work. Being a perfectionist, the journey to that point is at times frustrating. Happy weekend!

Repaired thread for a cam stud with helicoil I knew was rising.  Big-Sert thread insert went in, Loctite 272 to keep it in place. New stud sealed with teflon high temp sealer.
Ended up by mounting another cam and timed it. It has recently been in so adjusted IN open/close as I know it should be.

Started putting my engine back together! Finally got to that stage!

Pulled the needle bearings from the main shaft. Tried with brute force, but ended up taking out the needles and cage, and using a regular bearing pulled to get the out. Tapped the new ones in with an alu spacer that's the same diameter.


Replaced the chains and a few bearings, still would like to do the big one but it's hard to find.


One half of the gear box works well!





I'm stuck with the neutral switch though, I can't get it back together. I have a 1978 F2 and the neutral switch is a lot more complex than the Hondaman book shows:

How does this go together and am I even correct that this is all neutral switch? It's been a while since I pulled it and didn't take pictures...

Pulled the carbs, bench synced, put them back on, put on my new Uni air filter, vacuum synced the carbs, went for a little ride and then washed the bike.

Holy crap!  I love how casually you toss that out there, too.

Other dudes are like "I changed my oil" or "I fixed my tire" and you're like "Oh yeah, I did some work too..." than then KABLAM you drop that on us.

Oh no! You owe her so much ice cream! She seems to be taking it well enough. I don't see tears rushing down her face...in the picture at least. I don't even know how many bones I broke as a kid her age. On the bright side, they heal quick and it gives her some street cred. "Broke my arm while working on the motorcycle. Just a day in the life of a badass."

Stick with the "while working on the bike" story--it's a lot more dramatic.
Seeing the kids get seriously hurt is the worst for me. When my daughter broke her wrist in the gym, and then was pushed off into surgery, I felt terrible and helpless. I wish your daughter a speedy recovery.

Haha, nice one. Although I bet a 9 year old's radius and ulna is the perfect size to raise the front when changing a front tire. And now that it's braced with a cast you might want to look into that.

Louis CK has a great bit where his daughter fell and got a black eye so he took her to get ice cream. People in the shop were looking at her and then at him and giving him dirty looks. "They thought I hit her!" He says. "And now I'm giving her ice cream because I feel guilty! I can't believe that they think I did that to her eye. If I hit her, her face would be DEMOLISHED! See these fists!? I could OBLITERATE her tiny face. Not just give her a black eye!"

...started the K1 for the first time this Year,didn't moved it for a half Year, two kicks an it was running...

Adjusted needles on carbs and test drive on the roads. Much more boring with a cooler cam.. (less hot). But bike runs OK.

repaired some rust on my K2 frame, guess letting it sit for 10+ years on the side stand is a bit to much...









and found another crack as well...
