Took a look inside the oil tank.  Empty.   >:(  Not sure what I am going to do next.
My K6 was like that since I bought it used with 17.000km, just over 10.000 miles.
The pump leaked the oil down into the case. Never an issue with that. Oil level came back up to tank dipstick after warming up the engine. Appr 20 minutes.

Pump it has now keep the oil in tank. First leaking pump sat over 100.000 km. Always pumped back oil in time to avoid dry tank and no oil to pressure gauge - filter - crank - top end.

Mine never did this before.  Will drain the pan and put oil back in the tank.  Check to see how long it takes to drain down again.

Blew up the K2 Bitsa's gearbox, possibly. Here's the skid mark made by the rear wheel locking @ 40 MPH. My last ride for 2019 may have been my last ride, period, if it was a minute earlier on the freeway, @ 70 MPH in traffic. ;D

Thanks Bryan, I'm glad I'm not a 2019 statistic. Hey can you remember many years ago telling me what colour bearing shells for CB750 crank bearings were the "Universal" colour that could be used with any crank/case combo? I took your advice and used them on the K2 BOTM bike I built, and it's still running sweet 10 years later, so I want to do the same thing for my next engine build for this bike. Was it green or brown, do you remember? Cheers, Terry. ;D

I'm almost positive, 99% Hondaman, aka Mark suggested black bearings. That's what he told me to use. I know you said green or brown but Black may be it.

Black is tightest and will need 500 miles minimum carefull running in then increase power in stages, i have the feeling we are both old enough to remember having to do that on most motors and were astounded by these "jap crap" motors that could be thrashed from new----and seemed to thrive on it. The racers used to fit 1 colour code looser so the motors could be really thrashed immediately after rebuild but they got rebuilt at least once a year which in reality was not that many miles.

I saw a listing from Vital Motor parts on eBay for a oil pump leak stopper seal kit.  Replaces 15166-300-000 and 15171-300-010.  Supposed to stop wet sumping.  Thoughts ?

Terry, GREEN crank bearings the universal color I heard for decades ago. On this forum too.

I like BBBBB case and AAAAA crank. Both my bikes have that.

Currently looking for new cases, 5xB  which I told a friend with parts here and there. I vave an extra crank 5xA :)

Thanks guys, yep I'm pretty sure they were green or brown, black are way too tight, Cliff (Maduncle) and could hardly turn the crank. I don't always believe everything the "experts" post, they make mistakes just like the rest of us.

And thanks for your concern and good wishes, Scott pointed me to this thread from a few years ago, it was deja vu for him when he read my post:

I was told Russ Collins only used yellow, my buddy that assembled my sandcast new from the crate and has worked on Hondas since only uses green.

Discouraged with my 78 gl1000 lean except when totally up to temp, I read up on Randakks info and did his suggested a 1977 only pilot air jet restriction. The jet's are in an elbow on the exterior of the carbs. You can't buy them any more and he said an option is solder up some main jets and shove them into the hose that feeds clean air to them from the plenum.
It's an easy mod and easily reversed so I did one better and used some #105 76F main jets I took out of my old supersport. So far so good, on a 42 degree test ride with a wide band o2 gauge it rode better and the gauge suggests it's richer at low rpm's.

Day after Christmas, I performed a full jerry rig test and got the bike running for the first time.
Tank's not ready, seat's not ready, don't have a battery yet, but I can still start him up!

Today, I tested the start button switch. And it worked!!!
It would run the starter, but couldn't get spark. I traced it to a bad red wire connection at one of the connectors. Being that this is my first time, spending time getting familiar with wiring, using a multimeter to check for continuity everywhere, and just slowly allowing myself to learn, and not being frustrated has been very helpful.
Considering I'm a web developer and spend a lot of my day writing Javascript, the problem solving skills translate very well. Just as important as problem solving skills, are the skills of identifying what the problem actually is.

So, I'll be unraveling some electrical tape on the loom, and fixing that wire and connector, and run another test this weekend. Might be an expensive fix... maybe a whole 80 cents for a foot of red 18 gauge.  :D

Happy New Year everyone!

Well I had to leave my 750 in the garage, because I need to turn my 1977 Z1000 (KZ1000 in the US and Canada) from a ratty old drag bike, into a slightly less ratty old road bike. I bought this bike in 2018, and so have not attempted to start it in almost 2 years. I thought I better see if it still goes, so with a few litres of 2 year old Avgas in the Z1 tank, I hooked up a battery, and gave it a kick.

Anyway, because I have to cut some "aftermarket" brackets off and weld some factory ones back on, I had to strip it down to the bare frame, so I did, and once the weather cools down again, I'll crack on. ;D

A few weeks back I acquired a 71K frame. After a very quick inspection I was delighted thinking the OG paint was in excellent condition and could be used with few touchups. Forward a bit and I noticed every time I was near the frame I'd get some sort of dirty, greasy residue on my jeans. Finally looked it over very carefully and I can honestly say this is the dirtiest frame I've seen. A quick cleanup using degreaser and a nylon brush revealed most of the OG paint was actually a light coating of old grease. Now I have to paint the dang frame.
