Looking good mate, well done! (not sounding too good though...........) ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Actually yesterday - but it still counts.

Cleaned and installed the rear guard, continued cleaning the exhaust and baffles, fitted the battery box, tool tray, side stand, new seat & catch (all previously resprayed about a year ago (except the seat)). Cleaned a few bit and pieces. My bench polisher has gone out in protest - need a new one. Fitted the oil tank, side covers & then settled down (after a shower) with a bourbon or two and Hondaman's bedtime stories.

It's the exhaust that sounds like that. There are a lot of holes in the pipes including some really big ones. Engine sounds really good. I even had to put my ear down to it to listen to how quiet it is. Stoked about this one.

Finished installing cleaned and idle jetted carb & wintergreen boots took a few miles test ride, then instead of doing sync and idle screws, I did the cam chain tensioner / static top dead center comp #1 + 15 deg deal in the 1970's update bulletin and get this - I heard the tensioner snap in tighter when I loosened the lock bolt.  ;D Awesome so stoked.

Nothing on my bike today, but I did discover that I am distantly related to Australian motorcycle racing royalty.

My sister in laws uncle who sadly died in 1978 is Bryan Hindle.

And it turns out that Brian taught Ken (the guy working on my CB450 head) how to race.

Freakingly small world!

Okay, so far today... after yesterdays wintergreen boots and prior carb pull and dunk clean and slow jet drill, had a #2 float overflow and crappy acell pump drip- knew needle and diaphragm were iffy, so off came the carbs again today, I am getting to be an expert 10 mins she's off.

So I changed out the needle with a spare and the acellerator pump diaphragm with a used spare, and back on went the carbs. Much better. No leaks, fires right up, no overflows.  ;D

Next is tappet clearance check if I don't dork around maybe a half hour, then home made carb sync, idle screws adjust.  8)

While the guys are here digging giant, expensive trenches in my yard to fix my septic system I went and got the K5 inspected.
Hopefully they'll leave me with enough money for beer this weekend. :P

Was going to ride to work this morn, turned the switch on, hit the starter button......."clickety, click".............aw crap.

Kicked it a few times, fired up.....but, lights would get bright @ high rpm, and dim @ low rpm.

So, I either have some bad connections or a bad battery , though I had it on the charger over the weekend.

Pushed it back in the garage, got on the Harley and rode to work, got a call from the wife, she noticed the 750 was leaking (forgot to shut the gas off) so she pushed it outside, left it there, and went to work.

She called me, told me what she did and I asked her if she removed the key from the ignition.........her response was......"key, what key................awwwwwww crap, now my bikes sitting outside with the key in it, and no ones home.

And the dog is locked up in the garage....................go figure.

Okay - valve tappet clearance is done.  ;D I had done it on the pile a few years ago and not a lot of miles so they were all very close, I think I moved like 2 of 8 just a hair, #3 intake was off the most that was the clogged idle jet I wonder if it wore that valve some...

Looks like it took me about 1hr, took my time and enjoyed it went well without a hitch.

Finally went and got my license, haha.  No more riding dirty, no more permit.  'bout time
" Why does anyone get offended by what someone does to their own bike? I dont get it. "

You made me think about it after I cheered knowing someone else would like to know what these control freaks are up to.
Every time any owner strips whatever precious Honda part the horrified purists parts go up in value. That's not the part that bothers them.
What bothers them is they sat up late at night, their breast full of wonder and estrogen, unable to sleep, dreaming about their lovely darling and all her glory... and next thing you know someone else doesn't share their emotional deluge and their reaction is they must spread their mind museum as far as they possibly can, taking over as much of the real world as possible.

Back in - finally, from the  valve lash check and carb balancing. Took a trip to check it out, I cannot even freakin believe it... the handlebars don't vibrate like heck anymore. The rear view mirrors no longer need their shock absorber add ons.  ;D

I freakin coasted in, in second gear, up the bump and across the field, not even touching the throttle she just chugg chugga chugged pumpumping along... LOL

 It was frikkin great.

Found out the battery was bone dry, is why the 750 wouldn't start yesterday.

Was still in the driveway when I got home.

Filled with denatured water and she fired right up.  All is good.

Chilly ride in on her this morn.
