...found out that the K0 engine is may be toast  :P
PO drilled a new hole for the oil line and I think he hit the oil passage  :-X

That's no good Georg, can you weld it and re-drill it? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Hi Terry,

...welding and re-cutting would not be the problem but if the PO hit the oil passage won't be weldable, take a look at picture 3, could stick a screwdriver right through the hole into the engine  :o
Will fill it up with fuel tomorrow, if it will leaking it is toast  :(

Your stuff is looking good Terry and the stuff in You bottles too.
Hmmm  ??? I just opened a special bottle :)

Prost...Georg

Good for you mate, that fugly POS was only lowering your property value............ ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Ok Terry now tell us how you really feel about the K8. Haha! Im not quite as out spoken about it and even though Stev-o's K8 was a nice surviving example of one, never did care that much about the last 2 years of the sohc 750's K7 and 8. With me it's like the first year of the dohc 750 in 1979 no matter how many different angles at long at it or how long I look (Hey thats a good looking bike) those words just want come out of my mouth. I guess that's why I didn't buy the 79 my neighbor had.

Stev-o were trying to sell the K8 or did it just kind of happen by accident and the parts mgr. made you a offer you couldn't turn down.

finally got the K1 back together. Rocker cover on, new seals in the oil pump, engine in, hooked up, oil and hey presto it worked. It was warm, 36 degrees C so the oil was already warm when I put it in. On start up, 65 psi and after 15 mins 12 psi. I did remove the shims in the relief valve as I don't race the bike. Happy now it's back on the road, no oil leaks...

I woke up early for a Saturday morning. Fired up the K4 and rode across the Dumbarton bridge. I live in California and this bridge spans the south end of the Bay (south of San Francisco). Up to Highway 84 that takes you to the infamous Alice's restaurant on Skyline Boulevard in Woodside Ca.  I bought a coffee and flapped with fellow riders. This road is cut on the ridgetop of hills that face the Pacific ocean out here in the West. Highway 84 takes you to Hwy 1. Blue skies, no wind..... 180 degree view of crashing waves greeting the coast as you ride towards Santa Cruz. It just doesn't get any better. 750 pulling strong with the four into four pipes. Truly an amazing motor for its design. We really need rain out here, but I will take advantage of the terrific riding weather here in California.  (70 degrees)  Cooldrum

I listed it on CL on Thursday, had a lot of immediate interest.  His co-worker called me and said he was trying to talk the manager into buying it...ha! So I brought it to the dealer shipper, he looked at it for 5 minutes and said, ok, I'll buy it.  ($3K)
While waiting for him, many people stopped by to look at at and at one point at least 6 crowding around it!
Everyone seemed to admire the original and excellent condition it was in.
Hey Terry - I still have a K7!

Cleaned up the hubs. Oh how I loathe the LL/#2 pipe. The worst thing I did is buy these crappy pipes and the failures just jeep coming. I noticed last Friday that the after getting the #2 pipe patched up, it had rotted through in another place. I went back to look at it again and wiped it down a bit to see if there were more bad spots and guess what, the #2 pipe is an HM300!!!! How on earth did I miss this for so long? All that money down the drain after getting it patched, I can't even use even if it hadn't rotted through!

VJMC ride to Catho Pub, Catherine Hill Bay, NSW, Oz. Fifteen bikes turned up for the run. Good day for a ride, not too hot, if you stayed in the shade. Luckily the pub and all but 2 houses escaped the bush fires last year. The volunteer firefighters were brilliant.

That looks beautiful Steve, well done! The Z1 was probably the sexiest looking bike built in the 1970's, I can't think of any other bike that so stirred the emotions of young men at the time. (and some old men now)

I'm shocked though, to discover that you've been harboring fugly K7's and K8's on your property, but I guess you're like old Mother Teresa, looking after those poor Lepers in India.

K7's and K8's were truly the SOHC4 Lepers, so maybe like Mother Teresa, one day you'll be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for your humanitarian work? Better you than me mate, I just don't have the stomach for it, just looking at one makes me want to puke! ;D

Oh Terry Terry Terry.  Not sure if you remember, but the K7 has the same basic motor as the earlier models?!
And with an aftermarket exhaust, can sound rather good (I have an RC in the Batcave waiting).
Maybe you should buy one again and give it a shot!
