Finally synced Yolanda's carbs! she purrs now at 800 rpm, but I'll keep her idling at 1100 because it sounds smoother. also changed out the cam cover tach seal. used a DOHC seal. its a hair bigger, and fit right in. shipped off stator cover from Stev-o to cycle x, waiting to get the chrome cover back and new gaskets so I can make this replacement motor pretty and leak free!

That looks beautiful Steve, well done! The Z1 was probably the sexiest looking bike built in the 1970's, I can't think of any other bike that so stirred the emotions of young men at the time. (and some old men now)

I'm shocked though, to discover that you've been harboring fugly K7's and K8's on your property, but I guess you're like old Mother Teresa, looking after those poor Lepers in India.

K7's and K8's were truly the SOHC4 Lepers, so maybe like Mother Teresa, one day you'll be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for your humanitarian work? Better you than me mate, I just don't have the stomach for it, just looking at one makes me want to puke! ;D

Oh Terry Terry Terry.  Not sure if you remember, but the K7 has the same basic motor as the earlier models?!
And with an aftermarket exhaust, can sound rather good (I have an RC in the Batcave waiting).
Maybe you should buy one again and give it a shot!
[/quote]

Ha ha, what's that old Texas saying Steve, "fool me once, shame on me, er, no wait, fool me twice, shame on, er, well, what I was trying to say, is, er, well, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig?"

The K7/K8 was a kneejerk reaction from Honda, they actually stopped production of the "K" model because they thought that the "F" was going to be the natural evolution of the mighty CB750, but when sales fell through the floor (I bought a brand spanking new 1975 F0 in March 1978 for a heavy discount because they had lots of them in crates they couldn't sell three years on) they brought the "750K" out of retirement to fill the gap until the (horrible) first model DOHC 750's came along.

I have to agree that the engine is a gem, (probably the best of all the CB750's) it was just a wolf in pig's clothing.

BTW, your K4 looks lovely mate, keep that original color, that bike is a survivor, and will only ever be original once. If I owned it, I'd fit some new OEM pipes from Yamiya and be happy. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

They wanted to sell a 2 in 1 bike: a sport-touring-bike.
At least here in Germany.
That went wrong.

Down with the sickness yesterday, but I managed to drag my @$$ out to the garage and get some fresh air, and take care of some of the small stuff on the list....garage time is good  ::)

Battery box grommets/bumpers installed and put back on the bike.
R Control - disassembled, cleaned/primed/painted.
Seat latch cleaned/primed/painted/installed..
L Control - clutch switch re-soldered/double shrinked.
Starter motor opened and cleaned.  Brushes were good.
Center stand installed

About 4pm the wife came home with an early dinner for me.
A huge container of fresh Pho w/extra lime and Jalapenos  ;) My favorite sick food.
Feelin' much better today ;D

My theory of the K7/8 is Honda was responding to the bigger is better trend back then and was trying to design the tank and exhaust to create a larger than life look.  Those tank and exhaust are too large scale for a 750.  A nice riding but ugly bike is a K7/8...Larry

Finally got half an hour of dry weather to time the newly-fitted Boyer on my 750F2. No sooner had I done it, it started bucketing down with rain again so back into the garage it went. Still waiting to road test it >:(

Removed piston rods, freed up the crank and scraped out gaskets from the top case. Sanded rear fender plastic with 2000 grit sandpaper and applied back to black.

...found out that my K1 has a break stopper
break = brake

You may find that without that stop in place, you may have been riding the brake. Properly adjusted, youll gain control of the rear brake you didn't know you could.

Loosen the rod adjuster a lot. Set the brake pedal with that stopper bolt, to a place where your ball of foot rests naturally on the brake pedal. Then tighten up the rod adjuster. experiment. You're not the first here to "discover" that.

That is curious. The fish at motogrid shows it (the stopper bolt and nut) in all pictures K0 to K2+. While its got a reference number, that number is not on the list of parts in K0-K1.

I can't see how the design would be considered complete without the pedal adjustment.

+1, I can't see how it would work properly without the stop...?  So what stops the pedal coming back further without the stop...?

The 750 K7 and K8 are not the Lepers of the SOHC world.

I honestly believe that distinction should rest with the CB650....
