Sanding down all the bad chrome on the covers to spray them, got my new guard dog watching my 6!

I was thinking of doing the same, any pitfalls? With the screw and tiny holes on those carbs.

New K&N Air filter. Woo. Ordered direct from K&N website.

The #2 carb clamp that I got in a set of 8 from Carpy (http://www.cb750cafe.com/) has stripped. So I put one of the original ones back on with a new (unstripped) M4 bolt. Pretty bummed about that, since now I have to find ONE stainless hose clamp with rolled edges. Balls.

Put the original float valves back in the carbs (nothing wrong with them, just an experiment with new ones last year), and set float heights to 26mm.

Once the child goes to sleep, I'll go do a warm-up run, and re-set the 2/3 dynamic timing again. When I was live-adjusting the points gap, I think I set it a little narrow. I'll knock the 2/3 points plate a bit further, then set it again.

Dynamic timing with a timing light. I ran out of adjustment, so based on this:

The first 'clue' here is" you have a K2 and the points plate is new manufacture. Check for "looseness" in the whole plate against the ridge that is supposed to center it. I recently bought an OEM (TEC brand) plate set, and the diameter of the plate is slightly small on int. I had to lift the plate upward toward the top "ridge" and set a feeler gage in the bottom lip (to hold it there) while adjusting things. This worked out well in the end, and I cinched the screws down like that.

The gap: it can range .012" to .016". Usually with the TEC sets, they come in around .014" to .015" when thy "hit the marks". I usually set them with a .014" gage statically, then run a timing light on them to find the "F" marks by adjusting gaps "live". Afterward I make sure they fall within the .012"-.016" spec.

I got it right on the F mark, but I forgot to double check the gap with a feeler, and it looked smaller than the 1/4 gap.

Electronic ignition... no idea! I don't use one.

Found out one of the bigger disadvantages of a 4 in 2 exhaust - you have to sort out which pipe goes to which cylinder.  I gave up after about 15 minutes of the cat trying to 'help' me and threats of rain.

Try again tomorrow.

Received my breadbox air box today. Vintage one through eBay. It even includes the original rubber stacks, but they've hardened up a bit. Might replace them. Needs an extra layer of perforated metal to wedge some filter foam and tape to close off the sides.
Stripping the chrome and painting it flat black, like the engine.

Nice! How much did it run you? I got one off eBay a few months back for around $50 shipped i beleive. I also was going to paint mine black (Not sure if flat, semi gloss, or gloss) to match an engine as well.

Great deal! I got mine for $120,- inc shipping. Was the only one on the whole wide web I could find. $30,- shipping to the Netherlands.

Sanded all the chrome, 100-180-400 grit and wiped it down. Using Berner paint, really nice cover in the first spray. Apparently heat resistant as my engine rebuilder used it on my engine without problems.

Made a McGyver spray booth in my garage, works really well!

I have one in the parts box, might be a bit rusty, I may just have to pull it out and chuck it on eBay.
