Does everyone in the US have a therapist?  ;D

yup....here's mine....you'll never see a motorcycle in front of a shrinks office

Hmmnnn, well I know a shrink who rides a bike, so not sure if that's true, unless he parks it around the back............. ;D
Actually I do not have a therapist but for some reason my wife's tree hugging daughter actually thinks I have a problem. Always greets me with a "Did you buy any more" as she is shaking her head and has talked about it to Mom.

Then  you ask, "How many shoes in your closet?"

"Fire in the hole" she lives again. Finished up the carbs and mounted, cleaned and set points gap and did a static timing, popped on some straight pipes and hooked her to the bottle. Started up easily and idled/sounded good. No leaking gas or oil yet and oil flowing well in the tank. Good feeling seeing all the grimy  parts back out of boxes and put back together again and have it actually work. Move on now that it lives to brakes, wiring issues, more cleaning and paint polishing and other fun stuff and hopefully a quick spin sometime soon before I probably send it down the road this spring. Not a keeper.

Looks great Eric, although I like the GT750 in the background, I really have to get myself another one! ;D

Well what a weekend, I knocked off work at lunchtime on Friday and drove to my mum's place (300 miles) to visit her, then up at 6 am to drive back to Melbourne via the Mornington Peninsula to collect some Henry Abe wheels I bought on Ebay. (280 miles) I had to be back in Melbourne early as I had to collect one of my Honda VTR1000's from the storage place before 5pm as I'm doing a "Red Paperclip" deal with a workmate, who has a spare late model car, but needs a motorcycle.

Today I'll hook the trailer up and drive the 430 miles back to Canberra to drop the bike off at his place, his wife has invited me to dinner, but I'll have to be careful, last time we had a meal together we all got blind drunk, and they live up in the bush, so I'll have to be careful navigating back to my apartment, there are Kangaroo's everywhere in that area, and I'll be pissed off if I end up with a big hairy hood ornament on my way home in the dark............. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Drove it to the local Honda dealership where it gathered a small, enthusiastic crowd.  Then watched it roll through 8000 miles on the odometer on the return trip.

Got another RFID chip inserted under the skin today, this one turns the CB750 on and off.

Going through customs is going to get real interesting ...

Terry...

Ha ha, the reason my mate has a spare car is that the day before he was due to trade it in on a new Audi he hit a 'Roo on his way home from work, killing the 'Roo and (he thought) his Mitsubishi.

He wasn't too fussed as he assumed the car would be written off, and the insurance value exceeded the trade in value, but then the insurance company decided to repair it, and now he's got a spare car.

He was really happy with the VTR when I dropped it off at his place tonight, he's got a nice old shovel head that he brought back from the US, but he previously had a GSXR1000, so he misses going around corners really fast. All in all, a win/win. ;D

Nothing to see here but a caliper full of yummy chocolate  pudding  :)  Brake day for the K6 basket case. Broke the front brake down and cleaned well and put it back together, done check. Lower rubber line was plugged at the hard fitting under the brake switch, fixed and gave them all a good flush. Pulled the rear axle (nothing like a good cleaning and fresh grease to make that move better) and removed the back wheel and sanded all the rust out of the drum and cleaned the shoes well and lubed some pivot points and the brake arm shaft. Installed drive chain and guard. Little more work to sort the wiring and it will be off for its maiden voyage to see if it still has a transmission. Not to worried as was told "Ran when parked and tore down to shreds"  ::)

I feel like Ive heard that somewhere before.....

Got my 105 mains in, after splitting the carbs to replace the o rings on the fuel inlets between 1/2 and 3/4. Next I guess I will be bench syncing them after my new fuel line shows up. Wish me luck.

Cleaned up the shop and compiled this nice collection of sohc4 pistons from worn out top ends I've had. Two I bought pretty much worn out. one I drove till the blow-by fouled plugs within 100k.

Started assembling a rack of cb550 carbs from boxes of parts.  Never worked on early ones before, just pd's.  It was fun solving the mysterious parts puzzle with only a Clymer manual. Almost done putting them all back on the rack, looks like I got all the pieces in the boxes.  Then I can take them apart again for thorough cleaning and O-ring replacement!

I'm feeling good today, slight discomfort from the young but old hip.  Sun was shining all day, my buddy took his intruder out for a spin, so I think it's time I put the fender and tail lights back on while I wait for upholstery to finish my cafe seat.

Yup, I'm gonna do that.  Crank up the traditional irish punk music and rock my little corner of the garage.

I'll have to look that up.  I thought I had my seattle indie irish pub cd in the shop boombox when I hit play.  Turned out to be the sweet seductive sounds of The Missionary Position.
I just went with it.
But I still have 'occam's razor' -"wolves in the walls" stuck in my head.  I think a switch is still in order.

Rode the CB750 into the city last week on a "Taco Run" and then rode home all the way out to Healesville.

In the pitch black darkness on back roads through the country with a 1/2 candle power Lucas headlamp on highbeam.

I could see all of three feet in front of me.

Got home and gingerly eased myself off the bike, cursed my "young mans fancy" of clip ons as my left shoulder reminded me of the bursitis and cortisone injections I am enduring.

Up shot of all of this is - I am going to make this bike more rideable for me as I disgracefully age.

So this coming weekend it gets a CB450 top triple (with those nice cushioned bar risers) and a set of early model CB450 low bars. That will help my shoulder.

And I am in the market for a better headlamp - any ideas on what to get? I am running a 7" globe so maybe there is a better globe to fit.

And - oh yeah, my addiction to 4into1 was serviced this week as I received new side covers, to be painted in the same metallic grey as my tank and fitted with the stock badges.

Reoiled the tank, seat, fender and headlight. Having bare steel tins doesn't seem like a problem if you keep it oiled.

After that, stared at it and the new motor right next to it thinking of how sweet it's going to be once it goes in.

Best oil(especially for bare tins) is always 100% extra virgin olive oil. Don't mean to turn this into an oil thread ::)

I use Gibbs. It's mostly a gun oil I think. It says it penetrates metal (I think a lot of products claim that) burnt lasts a while. I apply it about twice a month just with a rag. The underside of the tins are painted. Mine are also patina'd with an inducing spray so that added oxide layer is more stable than rust, might help.
