Nice
While it was off did you pull the drive flange out to inspect the rubber dampers and clean out the old grease from the bearing (it's open to the wheel side) and put fresh grease in the bearing? That will make a seemingly bad bearing come back to and extend it's life. I just did that to a wheel for the K6 project.

Stu….. I did. Pried it off with a 4’ length of 2” X 4” lumber, before I unbolted the old sprocket. It looked so clean, I just banged it back into place.
Mine had semi coagulated 50 year old grease that when I spun it with my finger i said rut roh, that bearing doesn't feel good. Very notch.
Once cleaned out and regreased  it feels great again. Good for another 50 years. Well, maybe 10 anyhow.

If you have a rough bearing it likely won’t get better, plan on changing it.

As I said, it is not rough any longer. I know what notchy bearings are.

Finished up the new chain and sprockets on the cb750K3. Non “0” ring chain came with a small tube of chain lube oil. Looked like honey and the same consistency. Applied about half of it. Nice and smooth, test ride Saturday!

The rear Lester wheel is also cleaner than it’s been in a long time! I bought this bike +15 years ago for the first Ganaraska 250 (CVMG Motor Giro style event). Engine has never been out of the frame. We’ve done both ends, brakes, wheels, tires, etc. the rear fender is a K1 with small tail light, the front one is from a K7. It got the paint when a friend was painting his Hot Rod black….. Definitely a “bitsa” bike, but still a favourite.

Finished it! Well - I still have to tweak the carbs and run it through the Carbtune, but for all intents and purposes it's done! It's been a journey, as you can see from the Before and After pics. And a big shout out and Thank You to all the members of the forum who helped me get there - I couldn't have done it without you, so a very heartfelt Thank You to everyone. I stripped her down to the frame, repainted, new wiring throughout, rebuilt the engine and of course finally got the rear wheel bearings in, and it rolls great! Thanks again to everybody who's ear I bent (and more to come!).

Today we got the carbs installed on the 74' CB 550K0. We also got the exhaust installed, filled the oil and are still charging up the battery. Hoping to get it fired up soon. 8)

Nice long ride on the K3 today. Chain and sprockets were very smooth and quiet. The  lube that came with the chain stayed where it belonged and the bike is still clean! I think it was a Niche chain and the little tube was in the box….. wonder if they sell it separately?

Reinstalled the refurbished Swing Arm on my 1973 CB350F after replacing the four bushings. Removing the bushing was a complete pain. I used the hacksaw method for the swing arm bushing and the threaded rod method for the rear shock bushings. Installing them was much easier. The whole job took several hours of frustration and cursing but was ultimately very satisfying once completed.

Dug back into fine-tuning the 1971 "K0".  As soon as I hooked up the IV fuel tank, the following things happened:

-Gas started pouring out of overflow tubes due to stuck floats (despite not doing so the day before).

-Idle sync screws did nothing- it took me a second to realize the cable adjusters were done up too tight, giving me no slack (despite having slack before).

-Tried to see which carbs were overflowing out the drain tubes, only to burn the ever-loving heck out of my wrist on a muffler.

So, yeah.  All and all, a good day in the garage.   ::)

I worked on straightening the rear signals on my brothers one-owner K4 750, one was up, one was down. His start relay stuck and it was in gear, he was alone and couldn't get neutral and laid it on its side to disconnect the battery cable.

Today I finished up dialing in the carb sync on my K5, she's been grumpy and Bitc hy since I fired her up this spring on another set of clean carbs, at which she farted and belched whenever I fired her up. So this week I grabbed the carbs that came off her and did some further deep cleaning of the body internal ports, poking out and squirting the old MBTE residue. Now she's happy again.....
I also while putting the side covers back on got reminded to tighten up the badges that were rattling on one cover. I tried just pushing the tangs tighter on the posts with a screwdriver but nope that didn't get the job done. So I got out some card stock and wedged that in under the clips for now.
I think I'll get my gear on and get it out for a ride for a bit this afternoon to see if she will behave and then I'll give a flogging she so deserves....

Got this yesterday. Most of a K6.
So last week I'm coming out of the liquor store and I'm walking to my truck.
There's a guy heading into the store and he says to me "Hey, I notice you've got a CB750 sticker on the back of your truck."  (It pays to advertise!)  ;D
I said yeah, I have a couple of them and he says "Well would you like one more?"
(The man had me pegged as the perfect sucker to haul off his junk!)  ::)
Long story short he said had a CB750 he wanted to get rid of and I could have it for free if I wanted it.
No title, of course...
He said a buddy stored it in his shop 25 years ago and disappeared and he was tired of looking at it.
So we made arrangements and I went and picked it up yesterday. The engine is seized and the plugs have been out of it for 25 years. The guy said that's the way it came.
I guess someone poured in some ATF because it was leaking out of the intakes.

The frame is straight, no rust. Gas tank actually looks surprisingly good, minor interior rust and only a couple of small dings. None of the fasteners show any signs of being messed with, even the tappet covers look unmolested.
Looks like an F front wheel maybe, no sign it ever had dual calipers though.

I don't know what I'm going to do with it, probably take it apart to save space for now.
Anyway, at the very least it's free parts.

So true.
The really stupid thought I had is that I'm pretty sure I have almost enough parts laying around to make it run!

Drat, I found out why the points cover is missing. Not fatal, but sucks nonetheless. :P
Also the drain plug is missing which is why it's leaking oil everywhere. I'll have to see if I have a spare.

Oh yeah it's fixable. But I doubt I will any time soon. I think this engine will probably end up under the bench with the other two. I've got too many projects already.

Rolled the K4 out the garage, cranked it up and went for a ride.  After about two miles, the throttle felt very strange, it would not spring back when hand pressure was let off it. When I was first starting it, it was tight but then seemed ok.  It felt weird to ride like this and possibly a little dangerous so I turned around and headed back home.  Once back, pulled the seat and tank, checked the cables for proper operation and they checked out.  However, the carbs not so much, the spring is in place but throttle action is very tight and they dont snap back closed.  The temp outside was 93 degrees, too hot along with a hot engine to pull the carbs but will be done this week.
Has this ever happened to you?
