I mentioned the possibility of another book (performance) to my brother. He gave me back the money for the parts I sold saturday to get on the waiting list. Consider us signed up.

I received my copy of Mark's book today.
I haven't had time yet to dig into it deeply yet but it appears to be an impressive compendium of CB750 arcana!
And the pictures are great too!

I mentioned the possibility of another book (performance) to my brother. He gave me back the money for the parts I sold saturday to get on the waiting list. Consider us signed up.

I've started the "750 Performance" book (or whatever I end up calling it) with this K7 build I'm working on for one of our Canadian members. It's a full-performance 836 Wiseco engine, except we've backed off on the cam a bit since he doesn't wish to buzz around at 7k RPM all the time.  :D
Other than that, it should come in at 80+ HP and redline in top gear easily enough. I'll be working over a K2 chassis with associated mods this Spring or so that will help direct that kind of HP in a nice, straight, controllable nature. Along the way will come some new products for the bikes, like steering head damper and fork brace.  :)

I do!
They are $93 with 2 shipping options: $7 in the flat-rate USPS envelope, and now $12 in their bigger box. The envelope approach can potentially let the cover get little dents in it from the handling, although I do wrap the book in some padding.

If you have Paypal, mine is: mgparis@concentric.net

I was trying to figure out how to set up a steering damper on my bike. And trying to find an appropriate fork brace for a K5 XD

I'm very interested in seeing what you have to offer.

Oh yes, I'll be placing an order for a hard cover too. My birthday present to myself.

For me, it's the same both ways. When I buy them to have at home for signatures or for the riders in AUS (where there is no Lulu printing operation), I buy them in quantities so I can pass the savings along. For the hardcover, Lulu gets $99.10, I get $93, but my shipping is a little higher overall, I think.

Do I need this book?  :-*

I'm about to take a big bore kit and shove it in a torn-down engine. I have no experience with anything that's going on inside the crankcase, only the top end. How useful will this be?

You will find this very useful and packed with information.  It has helped me with carbs on my 750 and helped with my 550 too.  Lots of info for the engine rebuilding.
I would buy it and when and if he writes a 550 book I buy that too.

Well, it goes step-by-step through the entire engine and chassis. It also goes by reference and by Performance sections, for moderate bore upgrades like the 811c/836cc kits. It also includes how-to for refurbishing the oil pump, improving the output shaft situation for more power, what to watch out for in all the bottom end areas on worn engines, stuff like that. I don't know of any other manual that spends pages upon pages going through "what might happen and how to check for it" so you don't have to tear it down twice. ;)

You've sold one to me, Hondaman. It sounds perfect, because I overlooked a lot of little things when I rebuilt my first engine.

But yea, +1 for an electronic version! A lot of my reading is done electronically these days. Any plans?

Currently I have no plans for an electronic one. For one thing, there's no way to show the detail in the pictures without a complete rewrite of the format. It took me 4 years to write it the first time, and I'm currently on another book now (hopefully not for another 4 years!). This winter, I might have the time to put together the DVD of the many pictures in it, plus those that didn't make the 'final cut' just because of space, time, and $$ constraints. I originally planned on a $50 book, but full color took the original manuscript to over $150 per copy. That triggered the need to pare it back to primarily K1-K6, although a lot of K0 and post-1976 stuff still remains in this version. There's so much that they have in common that it works fine, with some added details for those 'other' bikes. I had to eliminate the "K0 chapter", which was over 50 pages, and the "F0/F1/F2/F3 Variants" chapter, another 30 pages, and move their highlights in amongst the existing text. I also had to remove almost 150 pictures, and even at this version Amazon wanted to sell it at $149. So I don't use any "vendors", or no one could afford the book as it is. I'm just selling them pseudo-direct, or through the publisher's [meager] contacts. And on my website, now.
