Is that a wheel-less shopping cart in that second pic?  Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Would you believe I have to powdercoat that for a customer?  :D

No seriously. I do.  8)

the left side covers pop off easy so put a ring of velcro through the loops and get rid of the little plastic clips. Otherwise, you will be trying to find a new one quick. Put some dielectric grease in there on the fuse area. They are known for rusting since the water can get down in there too easily. (Don't squirt that area with a hose when washing.) That area is really the only thing I can think of that anyone has a problem with.

You now have self cancelling signals and all kinds of neat little things.

Oh, the crossover of the pipes is hidden behind them, usually painted black. Don't screw with that or the pipes in general since you have fuel injection or it will cost you $500 just to hook up to their computer. I bought a '06 because it was the last year to have carbs.  ;D

Good luck with the bike and I hope you enjoy riding it.

Side covers are a PITA to get off so maybe I got lucky?

Self cancelling seems to work when it wants to.

And NO crossover. I checked. Twice. They aren't screamin eagle..... but they damn sure look stock. So maybe I'm lucky there too?

It just had the 1k mile checkup. That didn't cost me a dime either. And I went into the dealer all by myself.

I have no idea where the bike came from except some guy who traded it in according to the VIN check by the dealer.

Like I said, not really a harley guy..... but I cannot stop grinning when riding.  ;D

My very first bike was a sportster..... liked it from the show "then came bronson" with michael parks..... but mine was a AMF and a total Piece Of Sh!t. Swore off HD's after I got my next bike which was the 750K4.

My first bike was an HD/AMF Sprint (which I like to pretend was more like a Ducati than a Harley).  Man I loved that little bike.  Other AMFs were um, quirky?  Never hear much about "Then Came Bronson".  Bud Ekins did the stunts for the opening sequence of the show, used to pretend I was Bud while blasting hills on my Sprint  ;D

Anywho, congrats and enjoy Havoc.  Glad to hear you got the green light to ride again  8)

my next project is a sprint that i'm getting from another member here (the roller anyways) i built a hardtailed 81 ironhead sportster, stock width and rake with 5" stretch behind the seat post area.

Well, see - it didn't cost you any money, but you had to get hit by a damn bus to get the bike.  "Expensive," in that context would probably kill you.

I once watched a guy get kicked in the face by a horse.

Good news:  Workers comp covered it, and we found most of his teeth.
Bad news: He was an actor and wasn't as pretty afterwards.

When I was 14 we owned Belgians at the time.

Took a full force kick right square in the chest.

Woke up 2 weeks later in traction and compression for my rib cage.

Broke nothing but split the cartilage between every rib and my sternum.

I was in the hospital for almost a year.  >:(

for about 2 1/2 years after getting my neck broken i was miserable, missing horses and riding, now i dont really even care to be on the same side of the fence as one. that expression came from Bob Donaldson, my BMW instructor at AMI

Dude, how the hell do you work up the courage to leave the house?  Is it because you're worried that the roof will fall in on you?

Hi Havoc, mate, you are going to be hurting for a long time, maybe forever because of that accident especially as you get older, make sure that you are well compensated now as it will be a lot harder if not impossible further down the track. The simple fact that they are throwing money and bikes at you tells me that they know you could get a lot more....Good to know that you are cleared to ride again.

Didn't cost me a dime. And considering the condition my current bike is in, something with close to 60mpg and fuel injection doesn't seem half bad.

It's a 2009 HD 883. Had close to 1000 miles on it when I got it, as well as an aftermarket seat, windshield, forward controls, and luggage rack.

Not something I would automatically go out and buy, but who can complain for free right?

Please excuse the crappy cellphone pics, it literally is spotless.

That IS excellent man. Generally HD's aren't my cup o' tea but how does one pass up a free anything? It would appear though that through their actions their lawyers are thinking that you have a potential HUGE case against them so they're trying to head it off at the pass by giving you stuff. Do what you will and enjoy you're new ride...just don't ever post pics of it here again. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D And make sure that by accepting the bike you aren't signing away anything that you might have coming to you. You're dealing with lawyers, be careful.

Mike

That's a good point Mike has there, but I'm sure with lawyers in the family you're well protected in any event, just keep them in the loop.

Congrats Joe, enjoy safely for a long time to come.  What color will the shopping cart be coated?

Congratulations!  Are you sure your connections to the Italian Mafia don't have anything to do with this?  And yeah, I would definitely work out a deal on a house with the city...  now is the time and I'm sure that they'd be more than happy to help.

I'm NOT a litigious person but I just had a thought.

If they give you a bike and then you are out riding it for every one to see.... could it effect a more long term deal later?

i.e. He couldn't be that bad, he's riding a brand new bike we just gave him. ;)
