.................Early ferry in the morning and get off the Island before last call?

Maybe a good link?

I found some info on-line, but it's always better to hear from experience ;)  What goes on........

The last time (2 years age) that I went to Vashon, we left the following day and enjoyed a scenic ride down the Chuckanut and Whidbey Island to the ferry terminal to Mukelteo (Seattle). I stayed with friends in Tacoma and woke early for the ferry to Vashon Island. There where 1000's of bikes from all over the place and the streets where buzzing with everything moto.

I believe there is an organized ride around the island that ends in a grass field for the big social and show ‘n shine.  After a good half day of putzing around we took a ferry from the north end of Vashon to the Olympic Peninsula and rode to Port Townsend along scenic highway 20. Catch a ferry from Port Townsend to Whidbey Island and ride north to the border. Is time permits, the Chuckanut leads to a great watering hole in Bellingham.

Yes. You'll disembark the ferry, ride up into downtown Vashon. From there, you can register for the poker run and purchase any swag you may want (t-shirts, pins, ect. ect.). You'll receive a map outlining the route and card which will be punched at the various checkpoints throughout the ride. There will be groups leaving periodically throughout the morning. Once you've registered, you're good to go. The poker run will end at the "Sportsman's Club" where there will be BBQ and festivities. This is certainly an event not to be missed. Unfortunately, my wife reminded me that this falls on the same day as the kids karate tournament. So I won't be attending. Damn it!!!!

Here is the info for this ride on Aug 29. I took this from Seattle Motorcycle Rider's Meetup calandar...

The time now is tentative, may need leave early since last year motorcycles overtook 3 ferries completely!

Let's meet at the Fauntleroy Lincoln Park turn out on Sunday Aug 29th 2010 at 10:00 and hit the 10:45am ferry. Stands up and heading to the Ferry at 10:20, if you are late head straight in and look for all the chicas on the Ferry dock. Don't wait behind cars.

Last year things didn't get kickin til at least noon, so this time should do fine.

--------------------------------

There is a Vintage Motorcycle Rally on Vashon this Sunday. Due to politics or whatever, they are not able to officially advertise the ride to non-members (see http://vmemc.org/IOV/IOV.htm), but there are a lot of groups planning on heading out the Vashon to ride with them.

Vashon Map: http://tinyurl.com/5msrvd

Check out the Fauntleroy ferry schedule at: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedules/current/index.cfm?route=f-v

Here are some archived details of the ride:

Info on the Isle of Vashon
http://vme.micapeak.com/events/iov.html

Run of Vashon Island, ferry caught from West Seattle (Fauntleroy ferry)

Time: little over an hour, not counting how long it take to get there, about a 20 minute ferry ride, 1 way.
Mileage: 27 miles for the Vashon Island loop

I'm going to repost this in a new thread so everyone is sure to see it.

I hook up with the Cretins MC guys for the ferry that leaves between 9 & 9:30 am at the gas station just up the road from the ferry terminal, they know the island much better than I do & are fun to ride with.  We head over early to check out the bikes & grab breakfast at the Red Bicycle (Bar on Main street).  Last year WSDOT counted over 3000 bikes, unfortunately not all are vintage.  I'm in the garage as I type this working on getting my CB550 back together, hope to have it done this week & put some miles on it before taking it over for the event.

I was told this is how it started years ago, as an actual time trial, but after a few rider/spectator fatalities, it was turned into a Poker Run.
