In the 1st show tonight they were all about the 2 days it would take to make the wheels for the OC bike.

Then the guy pushed the switch on the machine that would run all night and into tomorrow to make it ???

He designed it.

Colman mad it in China with crap materials.

Yeah, Yeah, he was involved.
   Bad business decision for sure.

China eh?

I've got an old Coleman cookstove that was given to me.  It's pretty ugly but works and is solid.

OTOH, we're letting China kill us.   It wasn't that long ago they were putting melamine in dog food (perhaps other stuff as well).   It was ending up in premium brands that I was under the impression used good ingredients to formulate their foods.   Friggin' brand X is darn near as good as some of the premium brands.  I'm a vet - this stuff hit too close to home.  Now I can't make food recommendations  with confidence.
our staffy has never had a can of dog food,he gets real meat for humans!and no show bikes do it for me either, overpriced and overrated stuff i havent got cable tv,im not missing much it seems, its not natural they just act anyway.

I watched a few episodes of American Chopper recently, but it quickly became boring as all they did was just build variations of a recurring theme. I mean there is only a limited amount of designs you can do to a bike, no matter how extravagant. In the end it's still another outlandish chopper. For the afacionados (the customers that seem to have a few bucks to throw away) the rideability is besides the point.
My admiration was directed to the couple of sheet metal workers on the show that were absolute artists, and totally wasted in that company.
I much preferred a show called American Hotrod, about Boyd Coddington's shop. Still the producers tried to "stupidify" the show with all sorts of shenanigans.

Can't watch that show, tried when it first came out, to gain some insight about choppers but after on screaming match between father and son no, tv staff that's responsible and father & son up against the wall. But then I think all "reality shows are a colossal rip off (cake and circuses) all of them up against the wall, Bye.

The OCC show is way past its sell by date now and I hate American Hotrod - Boyd Coddington is one of the most opiniated angry little men I've ever seen and that shop foreman of his is a little fascist twerp.

Best bike show on the box was Southern Chopper - sad that it went off air when Gary died...

I ride into Orange County on a regular basis. i may pop over to Jr's shop and see what it looks like. I went to the original OCC in Rock Tavern and it was a joke. The bikes looked slapped together and the people that worked there were all stoned out Hillbillies. I saw the Tuetal Clan for years at the Orange County Speedway before they were famous. Nothing special about them then and nothing special about them now. Paul jr I understand has Vinnie with him who always appeared to know what he is doing.

Slightly OT, but has anyone here seen the "Paul Jr. Designs Coleman® RoadTrip® Grill" in person?

I have, and it's a piece of crap!  :D

It's a wobbly, thin metaled, fake stamped aluminum diamond plate (who fakes diamond plate, ffs?) crap finish, crap paint, $200 piece of crap grill.

Oh, and it's small.

And crappy.

That is all :D

I hate "theme" bikes. Bikes that that look like reindeer, helicopters or some other crap. I'd like to see Jr. start to build something original. The money is in the theme crap for big companies.

The companies honestly don't care about bikes, they get an hour of advertising, and thats what they are paying for.

Jr does come up with some cool ideas sometimes, but most of his crap sucks. They have to have people like Rick and Vinnie to do the building and welding.

The first season was better, before they got the water jet and all the expensive crap.

Yeah, now I liked the Southern Chopper (even though I DON'T like Choppers as such) and I liked the Biker Build off, pretty much. I liked American Hot Rod, but like as mentioned, Didn't care for Boyd Coddington (his attitude and behavior) even though I thought he had good ideas and talent. As for the shop foreman (it you want to call him that, cause he sure wasn't), I wouldn't have him for ANY JOB! He's an ignorant, smart a$$ with no experience at anything except running his mouth. As I remember, most everyone else on that show, was alright and knowledgeable.

Now, one show I DID like, because of the host, was Trucks with Stacey David. I thought he had a great personality and made you feel at home while watching the show and his projects. I don't watch it any more because the hosts have changed. But now, if anyone wants to watch Stacey again, he has a show on the Speed Channel called "Gearz" well worth watching, in MY opinion (eve IF they DO have 4 WHEELS instead of 2. ;)

I like pickers the best, these guys are for real, at least so far. One of my buddies bought a 46 indian chief from them a few years ago.
It is rather wierd to see Jr, sitting in a shop amid all his new tools looking lost. Add the fact OCC has so much debt from all the new buildings they have no net worth, they need to be on TV or go under.

True old school bikers appreciate the machine regardless of what it looks like or country of origin!  Only catalog bikers and narrow minded snots demonstrate distain for bikes that don't reflect their own tastes.

I hate OCC the reality show, but occaisionally I'll see something in their bike designs that impresses me.  There's something to be learned from everyone, you just got to be smart enough to recognize what the something is!!!!

While I am NOT a fan of the Choppers, I have sen things that are pretty cool. But, being of (what I'D call, the "Old Skool" era, I STILL don't lie choppers. Just my OWN dislike. ;) So, I wouldn't REALLY say that the Old Skool crown likes ALL forms, cause it just ain't so (at least NOT the WHOLE bike, some parts YES.) ;)

Never said Old Schoolers like, I said appreciate.  Big difference, but I think that's splitting hairs, because we're saying the same thing.  Taste is personal and you can't argue it.

Being an older school than most I have driven old bikes and personally I like the modern feel of good shocks, tight front ends excellent brakes, decent speed and most of the choppers didn't have all those attributes, if you want to drive a chopper god bless you, just don't proselytize to me about them, because I don't care how cool it looks.

Not trying to convince you of nothing, clearly not many people on this forum read all the words.  I said and I'll say again "taste is personal and you can't argue it!"  And I never said that all Old School bikers love all bikes, I said they appreciate them for being what they are.  And I can understand your admiration for new technology, I too like the feeling of the security that comes with it.  Just like each tool in the box has it's own purpose/specialty so too does each type of bike.  When choppers came to be they were physical expressions of ones individuality.  And by the way I "ride" my chopper and "drive" my truck if you want to get picky!
