OK, it appears indiana and ohio have a really great list of riders. Missouri and Illinois are good but could use a few more. I'd like to hear some suggestions on our routes and stops.
I've taken it upon myself to include a St. Louis to Chicago leg how about some ideas for the illinois  part?   I Emailed honda shops in springfield and peoria with no reply, I'm thinking of some landmarks to stop at for fuel, rest and photos maybe some parks. If we got around Dixon there is a nice route through a state park and a giant statue of chief blackhawk. A little out of the way though. Maybe the Hennepin Canal? The antique car lot on I-55 between springfield and St louis? any old Route 66 stops?

Nice station!

Because Illinois is such a long state, if you get southern state riders, the route may be easy to change. I am only offering so you have an option.  If IT moved from Ill to Indy and skipped Chicago, we will definately take IT from Wisconsin to the windy city and then head west and northerly.  My alternate suggestion is if no riders in southern Ill show and IT moves from St. Louis north along the Mississippi to Davenport, the ride could touch southern Wisconsin (Madison and Miilwaukee) on its way to Chicago. Then we could pass IT from the UP more directly to LaCrosse and points west. All possibilitites, we just don't know yet.

being that i'm in northern IL ..  i vote +1 to what Old Scrambler suggested ...  you guys gotta remember that 80% of IL is flat, straight roads, boring, farmland

southern Wisconsin , thanks to all the glaciers , has more twisty sweeping, fun , roads....    just my .02

I used to chase teenage women in Metro back in the late 60's - had pretty good luck with those small town women from across the river  ;) They didn't mind being caught. Besides Superman and a riverboat casino, nothing.

Since Eastern Ohio seems to be the terminus for our group, we need to know where the next region (PA?) picks up. Knowing that can help us determine our journey through the Buckeye State. As rides go, E/W central Ohio is totally boring-- well, it's flat anyway, and straight, but countryside can be picturesque. I through out earlier Rt. 50 would be an excellent choice as far as nice scenic highway goes, coursing through Appalachian foothills in SE Ohio. Other than totally boring I-70 I'm not familiar with what's north of that. But the question is, do we hand off in PA and is so, on the western most PA/Ohio border, or could we include part of West Virginia and hand off in PA just north of Morgantown, WV? Don't mean to leave out N. Ohio folks, I'm just not familiar with routes up there and it's 4 hours from down here in Cincinnati.

As far as I've been able to make out, nothing has been decided as to where the hand off will be. I'm hoping to be available to pick IT up anywhere along the Ohio/Pa border, but Morgantown would be another option. There are some very nice roads in SE Ohio and into W Va. We still need some riders to head east to the Md/De hand off.

I'm thinking the chicago to indy group looks rather large, maybe they have preferences but I'm thinking they may be one of the larger groups and are looking at a fun time. What do you say Chi-town? I can do St. Louis to Chicago in 2 days easy if I don't go to K.C.

Count me in, It is the memorial day week-end time frame, so I should be able to do somewhere in Ohio or Indiana to somewhere in PA. depending on wher your stops might be. But Cincy is close to the Indiana  section... Just make my way back to Cincy on another road.  Looks like fun!

That schedule I posted is just a wildly calculated estimate, don't count on it for scheduling days off or anything. :o

How about if we intice you with a free lunch and a meeting in Topeka at Motorcycle Classics magazine's headquarters courtesy of Motorcycle Classics magazine?  ;) Any other MO riders want to tag along?? Got yer interest now, eh?! Stay tuned for news and updates  8)

Sure, West is good. Though I'd like to go a lot further than Topeka; I can do that any day of the week. ;) Heck, I've made the trip on I-70 from KC to Russell probably a couple thousand times.

I'd vote to take something besides I-70, though... Too straight and I've been there. ;D

Don,

In case you may not have caught wind of this your lead off riders may wish to venture into Kansas a little farther to meet up at the offices of Motorcycle Classics Magazine in Topeka with our crew. Looks like they will be following the ride. When I told them we'd be riding US24 through Topeka they suggested we stop in and do lunch.  ;D  I do have a little more details and exciting news from them that I will post soon hopefully.
