Met her when she was dating a friend of mine in high school. We became best friends over the following year. Went to a movie as friends and by the end of the night we had spilled the beans about how we really felt about each other. She pulled me out of a really dangerous time in life. When all my friends were going to jail, we were moving in together. Got married on the 10th anniversay of our first "date" in the same driveway where she dropped me off. (It was winter and the only vehicle I owned was a YZ125 dirt bike) This Jan is 11 years married, 21 years together. Two awesome boys came out of our love for each other and I wouldn't trade anything in the world for my life with them. She has supported me through my 17 years in the military and continues to do so unrelentingly. The sun rises and sets for me on my wife and family.........and I have her to thank for all of it.

After I crashed my 84 Interceptor in '04 and bought a beat up '79 XS400 just to have something to ride, she was the one who said "you should really just sit down, think about what bike you really want and go find one." Now I have my 750K3.
If ever there was a creator of bastard sons, it is the open road, for she has claimed so many young men yearning for freedom......

Same for me 'cept it was 20 years military and am retarded...uuuuhhhh.....retired now. Also told me to think about and get what I want as a bike and not just to settle having a bike.

Still married to her, been 32 years this month 19th.

We met on a blind date on my motorcycle, the same one I am rebuilding now. Phaedrus. 1972 K2 owned since 1974. A few of us were going on a trip to the Putnam County (Indiana) Covered Bridge Festival. They all had wives, I asked them if they didn't know of any one who might go with me (a girl from their place of employment, then Allison's Gas Turbines.) One guy said yeah he'd ask one of the CNC programmers, she liked bikes.

And so it goes, met October 10th, 1982. Spent 12 hours on the bike, and off exploring the different bridges. Rode about 200 miles. My friend snapped a picture of us lounging in a field, still have it framed on the chest of drawers.

Here's Phaedrus as it looked back then.

To hear her tell it, she told her girlfriend she'd met the man she was going to marry that day. It took her 2.5 years to convince me.  :D
Married May 25th 1985. What's that, 26 years.

My wife and I worked at the same place in the mid '90s, but we didn't actually meet until she saw some friends and me at a Phish concert in Austin and asked if she could hang out with us since she was there alone.  She had a boyfriend at the time, and I was thoroughly enjoying not being tied down in my mid-20's, so we remained friends for a couple of years.  It was completely platonic on both sides until one night when we were having a couple of drinks at the Elephant Room in Austin.  We were talking about books and movies and music and family, when I realized she was the perfect person for me.  She was still with the same guy, though, so I had to wait.  Then one day, two weeks before I was to leave for Nevada to work for the DPW at Burning Man, she showed up at my door crying because her boyfriend broke up with her.  I consoled her and said she should come with me to Nevada to get away from everything for a while.

I did my best to be a gentleman and not prey on the emotionally vulnerable, but the combination of daily hard labor and nightly hard partying, combined with sleeping in the same tent for weeks on end only solidified my belief that it was meant to be.  I mean this girl was happy to drive halfway across the country with me to live on a dry lake bed and work her ass off on a daily basis for three meals a day (plus beer & tequilla) and meager pay!  What more could I ask for?

We have now been together for 11 years, married for 7, and have a 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter.

This is us 11 years ago:

How do you guys even remember all this?

Ive no idea how/where/when i met my wife.

She was just around, didnt pay much attention. Was living with one of here friends for a few years, when that went tits up we sort of realised we liked each other. Was all a bit of a drunken haze for a few years LOL.

Lived together for a year or 2 then thought it would be fun to go to viva las vegas (rockabilly weekender in vegas, we live in england) and thought it would be fun to do the whole drive through wedding thing while we were there. No real proposal or anthing, thought it would be a laugh.

Saved a few thousand for the trip. The day before we were confirming the ticket booking we went to a car show. She saw a little hot rod she liked and we decided to get married in england for £500 (including dress, suit, rings etc) and spend the other 3k building a 49 ford hot rod.

Spend our £750 wedding present money on a high compression head, period manifolds and twin carbs  8)

Not sure when we got married, 2, 3 maybe even coming up to 4 years ago, something like that.

I have her name tatoo'd under my wedding ring. I was going to put the date too so i wouldnt forget, but i didnt, so i forgot  ;D

Not very romantic i guess, but she's lovely, small, black hair, green eyes and more tattoo's than me!

I played in bands for a long time. Met my wife at one of our shows.

Been together ten years, married for almost five.

I am glad I found this thread, it reminded me that TODAY is my 5 year anniversary. I suppose I need to go get a card and some flowers, eh?

I impressed my wife with my brains instead of my braun. Lucky because I don't have much braun (or brains for that matter)

We met at a New year's Eve party in Spokane, WA. We met earlier in the night and talked a lot. Then at midnight I gave her a peck on the cheek which surprised her. By 1 AM this drunk mexican dude decided he liked her and kept butting into our convo and wanted to fight me. I said, "OK man, let's go outside" Keep in mind that Spokane on December 31st is cold probably 15 degrees F that night. Being a gentleman, I let him go out first, slammed and locked the front door, and came back and asked for her phone number. She gave it to me and that was 1995. We got married in 2000. No kids but a great dog. She likes to ride on the back of my CB550 on summer evenings.

Don't know whatever happened to that drunk mexican.

Even though it is way cliche I met my wife on a blind date (actually she cheated and checked me out before going out with me). But we have been married for 12 Years so something must be working. I love her to death but it is even better that she is very supportive of my hobbies especially the SOHC in the garage I even get her out on a ride now and then.

I did, we call it "internet dating" down here in NZ, works great for second time arounders in their middle years as it seems many marraiges run out of steam about then. ;D
Met some amazing women, couldn't keep them all (some tried to keep me) ;)

My wife Paula was actually introduced to me by my girlfriend in high school back in 1970. We knew each other well in school, but were both always dating someone else. I gave her a ride on my 1st bike a Honda 65SS when I was a junior in high school. When she was a senior we started dating and riding which lasted for 7 years until we both were done with school. Got engaged and married in 1979. Have 2 boys Chris is 28 and a high school physics teacher and Ryan 25 a banker. We feel blessed. Here is a pic taken of Paula on my first brand new Honda a CB750K7. The other pic of Paula was taken this year by her 2000 Wing. Yes, she has not aged and again...I am blessed. Good stories guys keep them coming...

That's a particularly good model you got your hands on there Johnie, seems it has withstood the ravages of time with very little repair work needed.
Keep her polished (and carbs balanced) and she will last you a lifetime.... ;)
