I saw a car drop his gas tank right in front of me. Luckily it was after just driving off from a stop light.

Rusted piece of hunk and the gas tank just fell out from underneath it. I didn't hit it.

A screen door came off the truck in front of me years ago in Atlanta, drove over it and hit the car in behind me.

Another time on the turnpike in Fl the front right tire of the guy in front of me blew at 75mph and he spun. That one was funto dodge

I passed a flatbed semi truck full of hay  I was stuck behind in Latimer County ,CO., and quickly got pulled over for speeding. Five miles down the road  there was the truck with it's load mostly spilled and ON FIRE!

The cop who wrote me the ticket shut down the road,I was first in line, Took a while to clean it up, wish I had the pictures still.

Not on the road but I saw a car's driveshaft cross the finish line 5 feet in the air on a drag strip right next to a motorcycle racer. I talked to the guy later, he couldn't believe it either.

Back in the 70's while on bicycles on a two lane road, an oncoming milk truck lost a front wheel as it was moving. The wheel came rolling really fast right at my friend and I, but somehow bounced over us at the last second. I've had other stuff happen on a couple of other occasions while on motorcycles over the years, but that was the worst!

I had a box spring mattress in the middle of the road. Long Island Expressway everyone 3 wide at 75MPH. I was driving a Mercedes a friend who distributes parts. The suspension was tricked out to the max. I made a swerve between two cars and got back into my lane before anyone could hit me. Threw everyone in the car around a lot, never would have made it with any car I have ever owned.

A wheel and tire off a semi trailer, coming straight at us at 60 MPH+, on a 2 lane highway. It passed by on the right, barely, hit a 2 foot berm at the shoulder of the road, and launched 50' into the air. If it had been 2' more to the left, I wouldn't be here now.

Oh, then there was the trip to Oak Hill for races.  I was driving going east out of Dallas a ways, and there was what appeared to be a roadblock on the innerstate 3o. The van was legal, but I think I had an expired out of state license, and other such things had me worried that it was  a checkpoint.

When we got to the  "debris"  it was a sheet draped over a body, her feet sticking out from under it still in the right lane. Might have jumped off the overpass or ???

I was driving my motorhome out west and passing a semi going in the same direction on a 4 lane freeway.
When I was right beside the rear wheels, the outside tire on the semi blew out and came apart in really big chunks. It really messed up the side of the motor home.
So anyway, now when I pass semi's I try to do it quickly, especially if I am on my motorcycle.

I saw my front wheel going down the road once. By it's self, that sucked. It just missed a 65 mustang.

We came to an almost stop ..within 15 feet of a black bear tonite.. he was on all fours and probably waist high at the back..!!
About only a few miles from where a grow-op was busted last year... the guy had been feeding 15 or so bears with dogfood.. to protect his crop!!.. not kidding at all..!!

Also had to stop for a deer that turned, fell in our lane, then got up and scooted up the sidehill..

I was in Viet Nam about 8 years ago and the interstates were single lane, so if you do pass its on to incoming traffic.  We came upon two semis that had collided head on.  That was the worst case of "debris" I have ever seen.

I ran over a nine inch supply hose that fell off a fire truck.  I straddled the hose with my car wheels and it wasn't bad until I got to the aluminum coupler.  BAM! and $2000 of damage to my GTI.

We had a PT Cruiser at the shop that got damaged by fire hose and nozzle.  Off the FT, under the little PT and roun d the rear wheel.  The nozzle banged it up pretty good.

Dead pig on one of the freeways in downtown LA. Where did that come from?
Also a water delivery truck swerved in front of us and spilled LOTS of 5 gal bottles. This was interior Mexico. Driving a small pickup and trying to dodge rolling, tumbling bottles was a trip.

A few years back I was riding on a backroad and came upon a 6 inch diameter branch on
a curve. Don't know how I maintained control after bouncing over it....

Several years ago driving my Camaro on a dark night,
all of a sudden a loud noise hit the side of my car at 60mph,
and my left foot was very sore/numb.

I had to get out and figure out what happened,
the wife kept saying I think I saw something in the road,
then she noticed I was on the ground in pain....

Turned out to be a streached out tractor trailer rim ring.
When I drove over it
it punched a hole under the clutch pedal,
and hit my foot.

I picked it up and brought it to the police station
after going to the hospital to x-ray my foot,
and to to make out  an accident
report. That was when the cop pointed out the 4 inch  hole in the
drivers' door and we noticed the inner door plastic all cracked,
around waist high.

Luck was with me as I only bruised most of the bones in my left foot.

I've shared this one before, but once while driving on the Great Highway in San Francisco I was forced to drive over a six inch sand dune in the road.  It had blown over from the beach and I didn't have time to avoid it.  I drove over it at 40mph and went into a tank slapper.  Threw sand into my chain and sprockets, and gummed up my bearings.

An exhaust pipe came out from under the car ahead of me. I hit it with the dropped beam axle of my 40 chevy, it flipped up and caved in the oil pan and broke the aluminum bell housing. I did drive it home. I put a mustang II front end under it then. I do miss that old dropped axle though.
Oh and once on the 500 honda I was riding fast into a double 90* uphill turn and there was a large cow standing in the road.

I met a young bull while on a bicycle.  Steep long hill - I usually make there 35 mph - and round the turn and there he was.  Luckily he was scared of me and turned around and started running down the road.  With bit of braking and luck I stayed upright.  He eventually turned to pasture on the right and mile later I met a farmer who was looking for him.

Rural Virginia, gotta love it.

I hit a cinder block on the LIE in 1981 at 60 mph in traffic on my CB750F DOHC. Didn't go down but it put a big dent in the front rim and I just kept going. Will never forget that.

I passed a 55 Chevy going in the opposite direction and as he went past the hood detached and flipped backwards over the car. He never even slowed down! I have seen a ladder in the middle of the road and a buddy had the front of his car wiped out by a sofa dropping off a truck right in front of him. Does no one tie anything down? The scariest was pulling up to a stoplight on a 4 lane and watching a truck WHEEL complete with tire bouncing down the road behind me. It rolled right past without hitting a thing, amazing.

Sorry gotta call bull#$%* on that ::)  That story about feeding bears to protect his stash was just a bunch a stupid jump the gun reporting you will find in your local paper. Don't believe it for a second. Bears around = Protection? Sorry, Frank, I just hate to see silly stories continue to spread. I don't know why I'm so adamant though? a  smidge high  ;)  Good bear bike debris story though 8)
