Just lurking around and noticed some welding talk here. There is suposed to be a nationwide shortage of welders in the near future especially if the feds get their heads...
where was I ? oh.. welders, were gonna need some. The UA plumbers and pipefitters union has been hiring like crazy until the economy went flat, right now there are a lot of members off. We are expecting things to take off late in the summer to fall and hiring should start again.
Nuke certs and pipeliners seem to make some big bucks but have to travel. Check UA.org.
We have some awesome female welders and fitters too.

There is a UA video on Utube that explains a little about attitudes and The UA.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

winter's usually a slow time of year for that work, though, I think, too, right?  even though Marti's up to his eyeballs in it right now.

I dunno, if I had a job doing something I really liked I was afraid I would wind up hating it.

They do call them jobs for a reason you know.

They do call them jobs for a reason you know.

I technically have 3 "jobs" that I love.

Horse Ranch
Amish Furniture
Bike Shop

My family owns the ranch and I've been doing that my whole life. Had some points in my childhood where there was NO WAY I was going to continue that kind of work.... but now I cannot stop.

Furniture has been a late interest for me. We have always dealt with the amish for horses and such but I never thought to look at their furniture. I have been building furniture in our little farm shop since I was old enough to see overthe router table.

I got my first bike when I was 12. I won it on a bet from my friend. Never looked back. My cousin and I built a shop from nothing in 1999 and it closed two years ago when he died. I have since taken part of that name and started my own shop.

I'm in my late 20's now and have been doing these jobs for at least 10 years or more.

Sure there are days when I'd rather stay home.... but for some reason there's always something that happens that day to renew my feelings about what I am doing.

I only wish everyone could be as happy and endlessly interested as I am in their job.

Wow..... that was kinda cheesy. Sorry. :'(

I saw duke at Jazz last night.
The food was delicious. Duke also wasn't wearing riding gear, and that was weird for me.

+1,  i have a relatively cool job and it pays pretty well but ive been doing the same thing for about eighteen years, some days its really hard to get out of bed in the morning. i guess if you do anything eight hours a day for long enough it will start to get to you.

hey bomber, how are those gauge faces treating you?

Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.

Hey IC, when I am down in Fla in March we wanna hit a beach on the Gulf side....any recommendations? We will probably also hit New Smyrna or Cocoa on the other side too since my nephew wants to surf and I want to bikini watch.
I assume the waves are far better on the Atlantic side right?

Also, any recommendations for wrecking yards I could email for parts for the Dart in advance and then drop by to pick up the parts from when I am down there?

Thanks in advance

Dennis

Small world huh? Yea that's her favorite place, the food is great there, just as good as anything you'll get in NOLA.

all the gulf water is like swimming in a sour green toilet. but if you want a good beach go to Clearwater Beach. Last time I was there It was all hot hoes!

for junk yards, look up LKQ U-Pull-It yards in the area you're staying.

As for the field comment I didn't see any house on that side of the road...but I am old and feeble! Are you on the left side or the right side of the road?
