Heres some drag bars and 4" risers I put on my friends 77 750F the other night.Looks good to me. His stockers were very rusty.

I just wanted to pop in and say Hello.

 I have a 76 750F1 that I've had a little over a year. She was in mint condition with 5k miles when I got her and due to her classic beauty I wasn't planning on changing much. Dropped her a time or two and now I'm ready to start cafe-ing it. Gonna start with the seat and handle bars. At 5' 5"  I can barely touch the ground. Hopefully a cafe seat will give me a bit more clearance than the bohemath of a stock seat. Not sure what I want to do for the bars.

Anyways...i"ll be around with lots of questions I'm sure.

Welcome. I like skirts!! Im going the superbike bar route on my 78 F/3 eventually. I had these drag bars off a 350f that hit the tank. The risers were from a botched attempt to cobb them on an 84 Shadow. This F/2 pictured above is a rough rider IMO. Right on the cusp of butchering or going broke to restore! So since I am the beer fueled mechanic it will stay ready to return to stock with no more than some unbolting. I will help stop some of the rust but ultimately its up to my friend. $400 no title. Had to get it from RI to NH to a relative  who Bought and sold it back with a reg and Bill of sale so he could bring it back to SC and title it.. So no Only 400? lucky bastard comments. This was its arrival from Mass! 4-5 weeks later. His family gets along real well. The last pic is my maiden voyage legal on my F/3 . Neighbors Nova was passing by.
 No side covers but Frankenbike is making some right now for all of us F2/3 owners.

Greetings from New Zealand.

Here's a few snaps of my 2 F's. Like the original poster I've always loved the lines of the F and the more I learn about them, the more I beleive they're the perfect SOHC 750.

This is my 'good' F1 after 2 years of fettling. I'm going to place a post onto the project forum one day. I've done lots of little things to it since I bought it of eBay for $2000 AUD a couple of years ago.



Here's my latest acquisition, it's either going to be parted out or passed on as it is, haven't decided yet. I bought it for the parts that came with it.  You can see some of them in the background. It's done 136,000 Km and was used as a daily rider for the last 14 years by the PO, who also took it off road quite a lot, doing trails usually reserved for KTM's and Tenere's. The guy was bonkers :-)




If anyone with a keen eye thinks they recognise the 'good' bike, it may be because a wrote a long email to Classic Motorcycle Mehanics a while back defending the F after they wrote an article about them in their Motorcycling Lemons column, rubbishing them.

They only printed part of my reply. ;-)

Nice bikes guys. Keep the F's going. I'm posting some pictures, etc on "What did you do to your bike today" as my build gets going. That will allow input and comments with discussions then a final build topic on "Projects". Hope to button up the 900 engine next week. I'm waiting on 6 pretty NEW exterior bolts to go with the pretty new black powder coat.   
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

plans: work on suspension first and i'll see what has to be done after that
so many sweet bikes in here i can't decide what she's gonne be

I can't believe I haven't found this thread before!  I have been working on a 1978 CB750F Chopper/Digger Project for some time now.  I have heard the problems with the Super-Sports, but I think it adds to the mystique and the challenge.

Just bought 30 days ago, 78 F-3, stored 16 years inside, 16.999 miles, cleaned jets, oil, plugs, points condensers, fixed and undid the PO tune up missing parts on the carbs wrong O ring on the excel pump not working and shazam!! all the candles Lite smooth as silk,needs tires paint chain seat very little to do.

Love the "F" thread, glad to see some new owners of some very different newer old bikes. I'll be starting a rebuild thread soon as I've got a nice chunk of free time coming up and some big ride plans this summer.

Hi there - joining the "F" thread. My F3 rebuild is in progress, check my signature for a link. Here's a picture of here after repainting a couple of years ago...got a small bubble on the tank so she's going to get repainted again. :/



As bought, this awful blue paint was over the original black tank and piping:



Got a thread going on the valves/guides/retainers over here, would love folks' input on whether or not they think the retainers MUST be replaced or not (has anyone here actually had a catastrophic spring retainer failure?)

This rack is designed for the CB750F.  The stock grab rail is replaced with a modified one that has a pivot point that allows the whole thing to tip back so you can open up the seat.  It did break this summer as many of them seem to do so I do need to get it repaired and beefed up so I can trust it.  I have only seen one other one like it so they may be hard to find but I am sure someone has one sitting around.  Funny that these Honda ones seems to break often.  I have one for my XS650 and it has thousands of miles on it carrying big loads without a problem.

I have a 77 750F2.  I love this bike.  I picked it up from a buddy's brother for $200 with brand new rubber on it.  Not running, barely rolled.  All 3 calipers were locked up.  Had to rebuild all 3 calipers, both master cylinders, and replaced all the brake lines with custom made braided stainless lines.  To get it running I had to very very thoroughly clean out the carbs.  Slow jets were clogged and all the circuits were just nasty.  Then I installed a Dyna S ignition to top off getting it running.  It was leaking oil from EVERYWHERE.  Cleaned a ton of sludge out of the oil pan. Made an engine mount to replace the ugly drop guard bars it had.  

For some style and personal preference designs I put on clubman bars and bar end mirrors. And a Mac muffler(way too quiet for my liking).  Also have Emgo pod filters on it.  Polished all the chrome I could, repainted the side cases.

Next up is a head rebuild with all Cycle X F2 parts.  So their undercut valves, new springs, guides, seals, and retainers.  Those parts are on the way.  While I have the head off I want to rering engine. Could anyone help me locate a ring set for this bike?  I think my pistons will be fine I just want to rering them and hone the cylinders while I have the head off.  

So really, does anyone know where to get a ring set for a 77 750F engine?

Or, you can get the pistons grooved and use the K6 ring set.

If it turns out the gap on my pistons won't allow me to reuse my rings, I'll be going with the Total Seal rings.

Might have some decent rear brake pistons for a 750f1, figured id give you fellows first crack at it if they are in fact decent.



Looking for a good rear caliper if anyone has one.

There is a guy that purchased a bunch of calipers from "Big Bob" in the for sale section. You might look through that thread and see if they want to pass on the great deal they got. "Big Bob" was slowly destroying parts  ??? and this guy bought them out of, umm respect for useful vintage Honda parts. I wanted some other parts from this guy, but he destroyed them before I could get them.  ??? :o
