"Cycles South" motorcycle movie from 1971
« on: February 21, 2012, 06:02:52 PM »
I saw this great movie on Xfinity, free movies last night and wanted to recommend it .
It's titled "Cycles South" , done in 1971, kind of like a documentary, on 16mm film, but with very good cinematography(in my humble opinion).   Three guys head from Colorado to Panama, on what looks like BSA or Triumph 250 single cylinder motorcycles , barely getting out of the states until one terminally breaks and they trade them in for New Kawasaki 175 singles (?)
I saw that it was available on Netflix.

Does the little guy ever really learn how to ride that bike? I feel sorry for it, he wrecks in just about every scene. Funny stuff.

Oh yeah lets not forget about the boobs too!

Cycle's South is awesome!! Have you checked out On Any Sunday it runs along similar lines as Cycles South but there are more professional races and riders (Malcolm Smith and Steve McQueen!). It's also old -- 71, I think! It's on Netflix. Check it out!

Thanks for the tip Michigan! That was fun to watch. Makes me wish I had done something like that before the wife and kids had come along. But the again, I don't know about riding through central America. And I used to live there!

While you're on netflix, check out "World's Fastest Indian" with Anthony Hopkins. Released in 2005 but I had never heard of it. One of the top grossing movies in Kiwi land though... excellent story.

Excellent movie! I think Hopkins was up for an award for that.
