Got this about a year ago. Looked to be in pretty good shape, thought I could "flip it quick" so there aren't any "before" or "during" picts. Turned out ALL the electrical connectors and switches needed a complete cleaning, inspection, and some replaced. Calipers (3) and master cylinders (2) rebuilt, rebuilt forks, new tapered steering stem bearings, new (aftermarket) seat cover, rebuilt carbs, new tires and tubes, new battery, Dyna-S ignition, new o-ring chain and sprockets, new petcock w/filter, little paint here and there, all cables lubed and adjusted, new rubber at the rear fuel tank rest, new rear wheel bearings, new shocks, numerous stripped/broken/missing bolts corrected, and addressed a couple of oil leaks. The seat, grab rail, headlight bucket, and rear fender had to be sourced since the ones that were on it were not model/year correct. Overall, I'm happy with it, would ride it anywhere, and am going to go ride it now just to watch the odometer roll 24,000.
No idea what possessed the P.O. to paint the cases grey. I'm a fan of the "Black" motors. Verified the engine serial #'s just in case, and the engine is indeed specific to the 1978 "F" series. The frame and engine #'s are close, so I'm inclined to think this is the motor that it came with.
Oh yeah, picts or it didn't happen!
