also, in case any one is wondering i used dunlop 404 series tires on both the front and back.

Front- 100/90  19"
Rear-  120/90  18"

How important is the rear bearing retainer? mine was damaged when it was removed. Can i ride without it or is absolutely critical?

finally got my wheels all laced up and trued and the tires are mounted and balanced. more progress finally. Still going to have the rotors redrilled to have them fit the new harley hub.

To those considering this GSXR swap... after doing it myself, sourcing, parts having spacers, buying new rotors etc i wouldn't do it again. I would just buy the plug and play hub instead. Also, How fat is that rear tire. I was thinking of going with a wider 4.5" or 5.5" rear rim and a 150 or 160/50R18 rear wheel.

its much easier to do it, no need to worry about spacer and fabbing up other parts. i used the stock rear rim.  tire is a 120, i originally was going with a 160 and 4.5" wheel but its too expensive after, new spokes, wheel, offset sprockets etc. plus, i really like the old look of skinny tires.

Finally some progress.

fabricated a new seat pan since that abs plastic stuff is too soft. I used rivets to attach it to the seat. Then i used threaded pop rivets to mount them to the frame using studs and butterfly nuts. fits like a charm

this picture shows the new 550 swing arm i used instead of the 750. the 550 has a tubular type swing arm and i like the way it flows with the frame instead of the 750's boxed type.

i also decided against welding the holes on the rear of the frame after im chopped it up a bit. I think in the future i may weld a loop in there so i used welding plugs to seal them up. Fit right in there super snug and used some sealant to keep the moisture out.

Looks great so far.   I love the look of the inverted forks on these old bikes.  I'm glad you went with spokes - cast wheels just look so wrong
with these old bikes.  keep it going.

Me either, i expected this build to be a quick engine build and it turned into an entire tear down. Engine is almost done so i am aiming for dec 24. Make it a christmas present to myself.

I debated this for about 2 weeks and after seing both styles i had to go with the spokes. while they may be a pain to lace, true and maintain you just cant replace that look.

I actually found that helmet at a flea market, cost me all of 5 bucks, and lucky for me its dot approved ( at least thats what the sticker says). the bubble shield is a universal one i found on ebay.

Squirley- yes you are correct, made it so much easier to do. just bolts right up like it if was stock. Devin did a great job designing it and fabricating it.  he even added a touch at the bottom that gets rid of the stock retaining ring and makes its a perfect press fit. I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat.

also installed the piston rings, cylinders, head, tensioner cam/sprocket, rocker assembly. Everything has been torqued down and tappets have been adjusted as well.
