I totally agree Larry, he usually isn't this bad.   He is a one man show and has too much work.  To give you an idea of cost difference; he charges $120 to powdercoat the frame and swing arm while my other shop charges $250-$300.  I just could wait any longer so I grabbed my other parts and dropped them off at my other coater, 1 week guarantee turn around, but you pay for it...
8 weeks is too long to make anyone wait..doesn't matter how well it's done or for how little it cost.  You're a patient man, tweakin..I'd be pi$$ed.  The frame does look great, though, as does the motor work.

Excellent Retro, Arn't you creative. ;)  Only problem is this won't be a "real" restore.  More of a restomod again, like I did on my red 78f.  I do love complete restorations but this bike was so far gone when I started a restore was not in the stars.

Maybe its time to come up with another name for this build?  Suggestions?

I think MGW is a bit over the top and I would hate for my 9 year old daughter to read the title over my shoulder.  I do think you are on to something calj737.  This build has been different than my others that it "required" quite a bit or resources ($$) to start bringing it back to life.  My 915 was just a vision / passion that took it to where it is now.

How about "Gold Digger" ?  The bike is candy gold and has drained my checking account since owning it.

How about Tweakin's "Money grubbing Wh@re"?  Meant with total respect, as this build, like your others, are top notch. But since we are all adults, lets call these projects what they are!

I have no complaints about the money. They are works of art, wonderful machines, and create a community from complete strangers that share a common bond. And resurrecting history to a new life is an awfully noble venture, regardless of style disagreements.

An another option, Tweakin's New Mistress?

Carry on, your work is beautiful!

Name change complete, Gold Digger it is.

gold digger
n. Informal
A woman who seeks money and expensive gifts from men.

I think the name pretty much sums up what this bike is trying to do to me...  But the love I will get in return is so worth it... :P

Gold Digger it is! perfect name.

+1.....love it

Making progress on the bike.  Picked up the rest of my black powdercoat and the silver bits should be back tomorrow.  I went with semi gloss on all the black for this bike and am more than happy with the results, even if it took 8 weeks to get it back.  The parts a bit dirty in the pics from my hands foundling them.

Installed the bronze swingarm bushings and all balls steering bearing races.

Biggest accomplishment was wrapping up the engine for the most part.  Finished building the top end and pulled out big blue to get the cam degreed.  I went with the 63a cam for this build, should make it a decent runner.

My weekend goal is to get the engine in the frame and build the wheels so I will have a roller.  Once I can get it into a roller things will start to progress quickly.

Just noticed another member beat me to the name "gold digger".  That being said looks like this build is going back to being a turd...   How about Mr Hankey?

Well, I know there are a couple of Mongrels out there, too, but I'm keeping my new project name (Bionic Mongrel) for now.

I like both The Turd and Gold Digger.
