New guy, first build
« Reply #125 on: December 09, 2014, 05:58:00 AM »
Did the cam chain as an afterthought. Soft-link staked/peened for extra insurance. And dressed things up a bit with some SS allens up top.

Love the warning on the camchain: dont install these chains yourself..." Whoops, guess i shoulda read that before i did it myself

Whipped up a shallow electronics tray. Bit more trimming to match the rail contour and i can start figuring out the seatpan/tail.

Agreed, i'd like it to be a tad lower than the height of the tank. Will take it as close as i can to the height required to clear the motobatt battery im stuffing in there. Might move the bum stop an inch forward too. Just infront of the downward rail.

Build is looking great! I like that filter mod, what K&N did you go with? Do you know the name of the steel adapter you used, I'm guessing it's some sort of plumbing fitting or something similar?

Thanks. Its a K&N RC2580 filter. I fabricated the adapter from 2 inch OD steel tubing and some thin plate.

Filter seems small to flow all 4 carbs but k&n rep did the math and made the recommendation  here:

Great, thanks for the info. :)
If you want to renew the plastic airbox & other parts, a coating of peanut oil works quite well.

will see how that works out. A coupla coats of krylon plastic paint will be a last resort. No matter what the can says, paint never looks great or lasts on plastic
